Mostly they take them when they go camping but my Granddaughter uses one in her kitchen.

I have a few bench made knives.
I have some antique, before electric power, tools & knives.
Most of my knives are cheap stainless steel from China.
I can get 25-50 knives for what one bench made knife coat.
Mind you I do not have 50 as of yet.
But they will be gold after all the bullets are shot, when SHTF.

Knives as weapons will take a back seat to slings, sling shots and bows. I see no reason to get within grappling range of a target.
Knives will always be of value but only a tertiary weapon.

Knives & screwdrivers are tools, that can be
Weapons. Skinning animals, cutting Tuberous roots for food. Cutting up food for a child or sharpening a stick or cutting vines for making rope.
As a weapon a knife is great when you are ambushed at close range.
Many people will not have a tool of any kind. A cheap knife will be worth its weight in Gold.
My life may be boring, because I have carried a knife everywhere for forty six years & never used it to defend myself.
I have used it for everything, but defense.
I agree it is the last thing in a fight& a bow is better for multiple targets.
An bow & arrow are made for killing, but a knife is many thing.
I do have a mult- tool, but that’s another thread.

I used to buy a few high priced custom knives but I now am rambling thru flea markets and picking up old carbon steel knives . I like the thickness on the older blades not the handles , they are either gone or are too small so I am starting to "rebuild" some knives and right now the count is up to One.

I have extensive knife & sword fighting training. All I really learned with all that training, is you do not want to get in a knife fight unless it is your last resort. Basically last line of defense.

When I trained in Kimpo, we saw a tape used by police that cleary stated not to draw you gun if a attacker was within 22 feet.
I thought that was crazy, but was told that it was the best action.
Of coruse not getting in a knife fight is best, even if you are trained & your attacker is unarmed & untrained.

I’ve always heard an attacker with a knife will get to you before you can draw your pistol. I believe it’s an FBI statistic. Lots of videos online proving it to be true.

C2298B42-EC57-4D56-B7A9-65AF67B5A4B0.jpeg My self defense edc knife is a KA Bar TDI Hinderer Hellfire, with G-10 grips. I carry 6:00 left hand draw on my belt. Which is opposite of rh draw for my pistol.

Yes, that what the 22 feet limit was all about, vhs at the time, no computer.
I was younger & had no real training with edged weapons at the time.

B1C83485-5022-4F95-9F11-66658D597A3C.jpeg Thank you. Guy does good work and reasonable prices. I’m going to get 2 more made in a couple of months.

The smaller ones are more of a self defensive concealment knife can be worn as a neck knife. Or on the belt.
