Good video. Boy that style of rock laying sure eats the mortar! I often wonder if concrete with pea gravel or similar size stones wouldn't be stronger. Looks like that wall was about 16 inches thick so it should be stout!

I worked with a guy who made a loose retaining wall, not concrete, it was much wider & had many truck loads of rock. He worked on it for months, got rock from a earth moving company for free.
 
We did a couple of retaining walls using natural stone and I remember it took 3 crews to get much work done, 1 crew gathering and delivering stone, 1 mixing and feeding mortar, and 1 crew laying stone. We were doing 3 walls at one time and you could move from one to the other to keep things moving. After a full day of work you could hardly move.
