My brothers new 69 Chevelle.
Our nephew's wife was married before and has a daughter from that marriage. Her ex husband died unexpectedly. A couple months later a truck pulled up to the house with this car on it. He left the car to his 14 year old daughter. She took one look and said I don't want that old thing. So my brother talked to the mom and nephew and made an offer. She took the money and he wound up with a high quality, laser straight, car that runs really fast. Somewhere around 600 HP. I can't wait to drive it.
It does not have the original 454, that motor is long gone but it has a built 396 with fuel injection.

He still has his 69 SS 396 Chevelle that he bought in the early 70s. It's a basket case but it is all there and all original. He keeps saying "Some Day.'
 
The Muntz Dealership in Hollywood hosting a raffle to give away a brand new Frazer Manhattan on October 11th, 1947. The model in the picture making the award to the lucky winner, is my Aunt Bonnie. She worked as an professional agency glamour model from 1944-1950, so this was just another day at work for her.

If there's one out front in the morning, and the driver is wearing a hockey mask, I might get a little concerned. They are a pretty obscure car with limited production numbers.
That's what makes it kind of cool...this one had straight metal but the paint looked like it was a Maaco special. All peeled and faded. Don't know if it runs or not.

The Corvair was in black primer and looked fairly solid. I know the Corvair is kind of a dorky car but it's still kind of cool.

It ain't no muscle car , it is spirited, and my o my if you've never road down the highway in one...well...nothing else rides quite like it.(air control suspension)
I been searching and have driven 1000s of miles over the past 20 + years years , looking for a good one.
Last December I located this one up in North Ohio, not far from Detroit.
The old man bought it new in late 1989. Kept it 29 years , and decided to let her go. For me ....right place, right time. Like factory new , bumper to bumper. Perfect in every way. 20k miles on in in 30 years. I try to drive it 40 to 50 miles a month. the Take Evenitbtoba fee cruise ins. is The wifein love with it.
1990 Cadillac Eldorado Biaritz.
This particular model , only 600 were mfgd.

When the earliest production sand rails started getting popular in the late 1960's into the early 1970's, Corvair engines were the most sought after motors for them. The stock VW 1600, even with dual port heads, only put out about 67hp, so if you wanted an air cooled motor with more power, the Corvair engine was a good choice. They were about on par with the 1968 Porsche 912 4 cylinder @ 105 hp, but didn't cost much at all since boneyards were full of them.
 
@phideaux She's a beauty! Did you name her? My dream ride is a '69 Chevy step side- short box, but my chances of finding one in such good condition are a wee bit slim:). Glad you were where you were when you were.

My dream car was always the deep scarlet red color, but , I never even seen one for sale until this one.
It is also a rare color
So yes, we did name her, even before we brought her home to live in KY.
We call her Miss Scarlett.

I bought a caddy once. It was a great ride. One day the engine just blew up. I found out it was a common problem with that particular engine. Had it towed to a dealer, they told me what it would cost to repair it, there was no way I would spend that much so I signed the title and gave it to the mechanic in their shop. We were both happy. Me because they didn't charge me and him because he could fix it and make some cash.
If I drove cars I would look for another caddy, but I drive a pickup.
 
I find the caddy to be very uncomfortable. At least the one I had seemed to have very cheap seats.

Now I love a mid 90s towncar. You do have to register it with DMV and the coast guard though.
 
I bought my wife a 2018 Lincoln MKC last year .wow , smooth, sporty, quick, quiet and a looker, and outta this world technology.

I drive some, but mostly my truck, but I drove the Caddy couple weeks ago to have new headliner installed, and drove the MKC home.
I gotta tell ya there is no comparison in quiet, handling, gluide ride.
That Caddy is so far out front in every way( except the high tech stuff). The seats are the cushiest we could find in that MKC SUV class, but it ain't in the same planet as the marshmallow seats in the Caddy.

Now, not all Caddies are created equal.
My wife had a '92 Deville that she put 285,000 miles on. It had the same engine package your Eldorado does.
And it was still running like a champ when we traded it in. Even with the high miles on it, we still got $2,000 trade-in.
She is still loving the '05 Deville today that we bought when we traded in the '92. Yes, she is spoiled to what you mentioned.
Only minor problems on (either one) and I still haven't had to touch the brakes to this day on the '05:eek:.
Caddys are damn-good cars:thumbs:.

I grew up just a few miles down the road from a guy who had 2 Superbirds. 69 or 70 models IIRC. Those things would fly and sounded so good going by running 100 mph. Makes me wonder what one of them in resonable shape would go for today.
And this from a guy that wasn't a MOPAR fan

Indeed the WOULD fly!
We street-raced back in the 70's and that was one of the few that said "do not race" in our books.
Unlike other Dodge 'posers', none of those were slow.
Unfortunately, most of the Superbirds did not survive someone with enough nerve to mash the gas-pedal all the way down.
Several were last seen going thru the tops of pine trees at 140 mph:(.

Yep didn't want top mess with them. Specially if it was more than 1/4 mile.
I was a Mustang guy for a long time. Ended up running Camaro's But never had anything that would touch one of them. Nascar even banned them part way thru a season, because nothing could run with them.

Funny Story, I have a mustang I had hopped up and was out tooling around one friday night. Ran across a couple guys witha 66 Chevelle and a 71 Camaro. I ran the Chevelle first and beat him by a little bit. Felt pretty good about myself and of course the Camaro guy wanted to give me a try. Well can't back down from that can you? To start with when we left the line I pulled hard left and almost went in the medium before I got it straight. By that time the Camro guy was over half way to the line. He would have smoked me if I had a perfect start. Never did find out what he had under the hood. But it was BAAAAAAD ......:)
 
I worked for a company that went public and made some programmers very wealthy. There were 3 superbirds in the parking lot along with a bunch of exotic sports cars.
Unfortunately I started after the IPO so I was just one of the worker bees and I was not a programmer. They were all Chinese.
