I am probably dense here, but I don't get it. I'm not seeing how it functions - is it leather? If so, holes for the buckle/hasp? I'm trying~

Good question
It is leather , the reason you do not see how it buckles is the holes are not yet punched in the end of the belt. I do not punch the holes till the belts are sold. that way the buyer gets a custom fit. And if the end of the blt is a little long, I trim it
