Let's hear your ideas for an inexpensive but very good stocking stuffer for Christmas.
I just ordered a flashlight/stun gun for under $18 delivered by 12-12. I had bought one years ago and it works great as a flashlight or defense tool. It comes with a belt holder and charger. IMO this is excellent for the ladies to carry in their purse due to its light weight yet easy to get a hold of from inside her purse. It can be used as a flashlight or stun gun. It has a loop to put her hand through and not drop it.
I have no affiliation with this ebay seller.https://www.ebay.com/itm/112492749380?rmvSB=true

Sorry I missed this post earlier when I posted to the “Knives “ forum:

This is a great knife for $15

http://www.cabelas.com/product/Gerber-Air-Ranger-Knife/1266812.uts?slotId=1

One of my favorite EDC knives, I have used them for years and while I’ve lost them, I have never broken one of these knives, and that says a lot if you knew my record for broken tips, chipped edges, and bent blades. I use and abuse my EDC knives, so I refuse to carry $100 Benchmades becaus I hate chipping or scratching them. This knife stand up to beatings, and stays pretty sharp. And it’s easy to put the edge back to shaving sharp.

I usually buy them them for $20 on sale, but $15 is way better.

Fidget spinners. Believe it or not they relieve stress. I have a couple of nice ones and when I'm stressed or just bored I play with them for a while.

Here's a couple of videos I made for my friends on another forum:

Buzz it was your thread that inspired this thread. You get the credit for it. You are such an instigator and don't even know it.

I thought those spinners were cheap Japanese throwing weapons or like darts. It kind of stressed people out when I threw the spiiners.

My wife bought a "cell phone" while we were in Laughlin, Nevada. She and my brother went to Bull Head city to a gun store. Well it turned out to be a stun gun and she thought it would be neat to carry. While at the slot machines, she was carrying the sack it was in and forgot it and walked away. She thought of it and went to the lost and found and they considered it a weapon, albeit one they had never seen before. Before I knew it, head of security came over to me at the crap table and told me I had leave immediately. I asked him why and he said I had to get out. My wife was carrying a weapon. I was up about $2000.00 the most I had ever won. I asked him if I could cash in my chips and he escorted me over to the pay booth, then down the elevators, out to our car. I asked him if I might have a cigarette first and he told me I had to leave the premises immediately. No cigarette, no weapons, and don't come back. It's the only one I have ever seen and it got thrown into the river as we went passed Bullhead City. And I threw it hard!!! She said she was out a hundred bucks, and I told he she cost me thousands. It was the only time I was winning big on the craps table!!!!!

I can always use some new cleaning equipment like brushes for the different barrels, cleaning sticks(cotton tipped sticks like q tips but longer wood hanle and cotton on one end only)or a can of Balistol or maybe a ripcord by Otis, or a Hoppes Bore Snake for one of my guns.
Basically anything gun related that is a consumable or that needs replacing occasionally, is good for me, EVEN A GIFT CARD TO A TOY STORE ( my term for Cabela's, Bass Pro, Sportsman's warehouse, and or local shops, I have about a half dozen of those on my drooling list.

Speed strips, mag loaders, bore snakes, CLP, flashlight, small box of ammo, gift cards, engraved bullet, NRA membership, GOA membership, gift certificates, cash, chocolate gun, targets, target pasters, sling, mag pouch...

Another year, another year of stocking stuffer ideas. In years gone by I have gotten pistachios, pomegranates, oranges, Toblerone chocolates, lighters, mints, candy canes, a variety of chocolates, pocket sized packets of tissues, jerky, gum, summer sausage, gift cards, and things that I cannot remember now.

I am looking for more ideas to change things up.

We always used to do socks, the good kind not Hanes or Fruit of the Loom.

If you've got a Harbor Freight type store around, you can get a 6 pack of little flashlights for just a few bucks and those make good stocking staffers. They work pretty well too.

How about beef jerky?

Thank you. I do go past a Harbor Freight once in a while and know where there are a couple. They do have some great items that would work. I like to make stocking stuffers practical or edible.
Flashlights do need to be replaced now and then, and like some things, can you have too many? Yes, beef jerky.

Weedy: How many stockings do you have to stuff? The O Light EOS mini Flashlight is a nice gift. Great flashlight. Tiny. Rechargeable. 150 lumens. 2 settings. Fits nicely on a keychain. On Amazon it is around $15.00. O.K. if you are giving one or two, but several would make it a little pricey. I have gotten some small flashlights at Wal Mart for around $1.00. They will sell a package of 10 for like $9.99, and I'm pretty sure they come with batteries. Something different than the traditional food items. For the old standby we always got an apple and an orange in our stockings when we were kids. ALWAYS!

Might sound like a funny one, but 1 thing Santa put in Hubby's stocking was a mini propane torch. It's roughly the size of those little guns they point at your head to take your temp. He loves it for starting fires and for melting wax onto things to seal them. He also gets Almond Roca each year. I don't care for it so I call it "kitty roca" because it looks like it came out of a litter box 😂 Depending upon whos stocking it is - little scissors for specific purposes are good too: sewing, fly-tying, etc. Gloves are also good. That's all my brain can think of right now.

So does chopping fire wood, butchering hog or hoe the weeds in the garden.

I do mostly chocolates, but little granddaughter loves anything mint, too. Husband gets jerky and dark chocolate and nuts. This year I have husband's to fill, three grandkids, son, and his girlfriend. I bought some hot chocolate bombs to put in stockings. Won't be seeing daughter in AZ, so I just made her a stocking (glittered her name on it) and will mail it out tomorrow. It has 2 pairs of carhart socks (her favorite), chocolate, candy canes, hot chocolate bomb, and a small Christmas cake in it.

It is different every year. Since it is just daughter and I, we always invite friends who are not with their families to spend Christmas eve with us. Sometimes it has been Christmas day, but usually, eve. We have a nice meal, other food and drink, sometimes some games, various other things going on, and we have stockings for everyone. Daughter has a collection of Christmas stockings. We have our own special stockings made by a family friend when daughter was an infant. We never really know who and how many are going to be there until that evening or day. We also provide everyone with a gift bag to take their loot home. Last year, it was just daughter, her boyfriend and me, due to COVID. The year before, I believe there were around 8 of us. Sometimes, there are people invited that we have never met before, friends of friends, but people who would otherwise be alone. Sometimes people get other more generic gifts, such as a homemade pie, bottle of wine, a jar of pickles (because we like pickles), and other things, usually food, depending on how many, who is invited, etc.

This is where handwork comes in: knitting, embroidery, crocheting, others.

Thank you. I've been the person who was all alone. The way to fill the gap is to have your own meal and party and invite others. I know I have said that one year many years ago, I cooked Thanksgiving and invited strays and asked people if they knew anyone who did not have anywhere to go. I think there were 19 or 20 of us and I knew 3 people prior to that meal. I was not alone and I was busy and fulfilled!

How I often find what I put in stockings: I go to stores and see things that I think would work. World Market has unusual trinkets and foods. They are majorly impacted this year by the shipping container situation. They have so many empty shelves. I usually get candy canes there. We like all things pickle, so I have gotten pickle candy canes before. They have no candy canes this year, so no pickle candy canes for stockings this year.
