Pretty much any porus metal can be soldered to any other porus metal. Welding unlike metals is different,

Gunsmiths have been silver soldering brass sights onto steel barrels for many years.
A friend of mine had arthritis in his hands, terribly. He wore copper bracelets for years. He must have believed it helped.
We just finished a blacksmithed rail with copper accents- yep welded on. Looked sharp. I don’t have pix 
News to me, I made a Freddie Kruger glove, the fingers and back piece were copper and the blades were steel, I used plumber's silver rods on it.
I am not talking about brazing. Aka. Silver solder
