Their is a myth going around the steel can not be soldered to copper
It's all about the flux about the flux about the flux Sta-Clean by Harris image.jpg
 
Pretty much any porus metal can be soldered to any other porus metal. Welding unlike metals is different,
 
News to me, I made a Freddie Kruger glove, the fingers and back piece were copper and the blades were steel, I used plumber's silver rods on it.
 
I am not talking about brazing. Aka. Silver solder

Which is different than sil-flos
Melting point is no where near the same

It has been said that you can not solder. Copper and steel together
Yes with the correct flux you can
