I just saw this video for the first time today, but maybe you have. I looked to see if it had already been shared here.

This happened a few months ago. This is one of those women who is going to have her way through intimidation, shaming and any other verbal assault she can muster.

There are other videos out there of people trying the same thing, using their position to get what they want.

She thinks she owns the universe since she's a commissioner. She was told what the violation was but is continuing to badger and harass; because those children who are attending MIT and need to be bailed out of their stupidity for forgetting to renew their registration.
Do you know who I am? I've experienced similar which is why you will not see my face here. In my situation a person turned to companion and said (about me), "she doesn't know who I am." As if I had all the nerve to be so clueless.
Of course, I'm not LEO, and it wasn't a matter of law, but it did have to do with protocol, policy and ego.

Well, if someone treats you like that, call them "You People". Those are my words when I get really mad.
We won't see your face here, Patchouli? Oh, come on.
I at least have a horse in a heart for my face.

She was so condescending! Those cops were so controlled which made her angrier. She jumped from one type of insult to another.

@Weedygarden I had a aunt like that who would call people counterjumpers if she didn't get her way in a store. She would also pull the do you know who I am card all the time as her husband was a judge, even when her multiple credit cards were declined . I liked the reply from the shop attendant "we can either look in your bag or I can call shopping centre security to do it, it's your choice . I of course walked out of the store and stood a long way away from her.

People like that just demean themselves, and nobody has to do it for them as they are already experts at making themselves look ridiculous.

I was surprised they didn't arrest her on charges of something, but I don't know rightly what the law is and how they could manage that. They probably didn't want to hear much more from her, can you imagine having to hear that all the way back to the station/lock-up. What she was demanding did not sound legal.

All Leos should carry duct tape would have worked well in this situation.

    Yep! And she deserved to.

Do you know people who are like this? I do.

A former colleague of mine had a parent of a student, the mother, who would write and fill in the front and back of a legal paper frequently about what was wrong at school and what the teacher was not doing to meet her daughter's needs. She was an unemployed lawyer at the time and had nothing better to do than to harass the teachers of her two Korean adopted daughters. She was well known for giving teachers a hard time.

I have a narcissistic relative (actually I have several) who is known to think she has the right to talk like this to people. Her daughter was mortified by the way she treated a person working a counter because she couldn't get them on a flight home in the time she wanted after their flight was delayed. Daughter didn't talk to her mother for a while because of how she treats the "little people." (Her words) This relative likes to tell everyone how important she is every chance she gets. (Insecure person)

I worked at a well known department store once. It was Christmas Eve, and the announcement came over the loud speaker as it did every evening that it was time to close your registers and begin closing procedures. Somewhere in my department was a woman who was digging around who had heard the announcement. I don't remember if we didn't see her or if she came in quietly. We did the closing procedure on our register, which now disabled us from being able to check anyone else out. She came forward and when we told her what had happened, she blew a gasket. We suggested she go to the office where we all had to check out. She wanted to report us and give us a bad whatever. Go ahead. We were following store directions.

I kept thinking she would or should get arrested as well. I wonder when she sobered up (from her anger and rage) and realized she had made a big mistake.

There are Hollywood movies about actors and actresses who would treat people horribly and probably many more "important" people who have whom we will never know about. Call it Karma, call it Divine Retribution, some people get theirs, some do not appear to, but my guess is that they do one way or another.

I watched the Video, and I saw no reason for an Arrest, as she was just being Verbal and a Jerk. Unfortunately the Constitution protects that kind of behavior and worse. However, off Camera it sounded like she was banging on the Officers Patrol Car, that potentially could be grounds for Arrest, but it probably would not stick

Knew a LEO, when people tried to pull the "Do you know who I am" card.
He would say slowly I see a man or woman whom put their britches or pants on one leg at a time just like I do.
Pull your big girl britches or big boy pants up and take care of business like your fellow human beings.
Shuts them up nearly every time, they are usually shocked that someone would actually talk to them this way.
He retired from Military Law Enforcement with 35 years last year.

Yep that is the whole point of duct tape @The Lazy L, but I don't think it would be legal for a Leo to duct tape someone's mouth shut even if it was really tempting unfortunately.

I think there are many things that may have been done in the past, which resulted in legal situations, and are no longer seen as the thing to do. Remember when children were spanked at school? I have known a child or two whom I would have been relieved if they had duct taped mouths, but it is really better with children to deal with the problem and to address the power issue for them, which is what is going on in this video, an issue of power.

While this was not an immediate fix for this woman's mouth and her persistence and belief that she was someone who could over run someone else with her mouth, I love that she lost her power position over this event. I wonder how many anonymous greeting cards she received? She should have, adding salt to the wound, people congratulating her (for losing her job) and re-iterating how she got what she deserved. I think of these kinds of things, but never actually do things like that. I have thought of many things like that over the years for people who were abusive in one way or another.

@Weedygarden I was joking on the duct tape :) .

I agree that there are ways and means of dealing with people in such situations that are far better. When I worked in management I came across this situation many times where people who perceived they were better than everyone else (higher income/position etc) demanding service first before others because I am a solicitors wife etc and the excuses go on. I merely said "I am sorry this gentleman was here before you and regardless of your position in society this is the way it has always worked which is the first person here gets served first". Then I would continue to serve the person who was there first. Polite and to the point and takes away any of their perceived power play with me anyway.

Ive had to deal with parents and whatnot regarding their adult childs consequenses for their choices who "demanded" this and that when I worked in LE..
    sigh...
One time during a verbal ...lesson..to a parent..
My commander said to me after he had a earful of how I was unaccomodating to the "public" I was .. he said.." ..just stop scaring the women and children.., tone it down a bit"
I had to laugh a tad, but thought.. nope..Ill ramp it up now..
Im not worried about my position or how I appear..I was hired , not appointed..and the public expects me to do my job...

Some children have learned that if they yell, scream or throw a tantrum their parent(s) will back down and give in. Majority of adults when confronted by this child will back too. Now the child becomes an "Adult" and becomes the star of the posted video. I have a co-worker that gets very frustrated with me because his tantrums don't work on me.

When I was teaching, some of my students would get frustrated with me because their tantrums didn't work with me either. There are some hilarious videos of children having their temper tantrums and stopping when they realize the parent has left the room.

Also, I am not an arguer. Children learn at a young age that they can argue their point and wear their parents down until they get their way. It must be frustrating when you have a way of behaving that works for ever, until it doesn't.

I've had several people just stumped when they said they didn't like my and my response was "Ok". They respond with "Don't you care that people don't like you?" I answer "There's no one here important enough for me care about being liked." That's usually follows by, "Now follow the rules and behave like everyone here is expected to."

I had a "encounter" with a young lady. She's all smiles and polite until she realized that my "no" really meant "no". Then she turned on the tears. When the tears didn't get the results she was expecting she tried mad and insulting. Nope, that didn't work either. Then she pulls out her trump card, "Do you know who my dad is!!!" I respond with, "No I do not and if I did I don't care and my no is still no."

The people who won't accept "no" really have a whole gamut of ways to try to get their way.

For me, if someone doesn't listen to me, I can politely outline the why not about 3 times. If they don't hear what I have said, or don't want to hear what I have said and come back a 4th time, I lose it. I have had this happen a few times, people who keep coming back and asking the same thing over and over. I am always heard when I am now yelling the answer that I have given them 3 previous times. It is not how I want to be, it just is how it works for me.

My response to those people is, "If you keep asking me the same question you will keep getting the same answer." If they ask again I pretend I didn't hear them and ignore them.

Yeah, duct tape can be hazardous, because nasal passages are unreliable, and if the 'deserving party' has worked up a sweat it may not stick anyway. LEOs should be trained in 'tuning out'. Maybe get a skilled customer service person to do it.

Duct tape just makes people mad. Our child #3 duct taped his sisters door like a solid wall. Then shut her door. She was mad. Child #2 duct taped #3 (both boys) to a wood pillar in our dining room. #3 duct taped a stuffed hanging body to a tree in our front yard so he could practice pick pocketing. He was a working magician at the time. That stopped traffic.
