you need a 16'' cast iron brake drum off of a 18 wheeler. You can find one of these at truck stop tire shops
I gave $20.00 for the one I have.

dig a hole 10 or 12 inches bigger than the Brake drum toss in !/2'' or larger rock
level the drum off 4'' above the ground
build a 2x4 redwood or ceder frame 4'x4' place it around the drum
fill in with sand, about half way. place bricks in a pleasing pattern around the drum in the form
after setting the bricks dump sand over them. water the top. then resand. water, resand
till all cracks are full of sand. sweep away extra sand

build a fire in your new pit
