How would you like your own bunker within approx. 1 tank of gas from your location? This could be your personal getaway or used as a secure, discreet location for commercial interests.

This facility was built as a hardened communications facility in 1971 to support communications during the cold war. It is located approximately 40 miles North of Pittsburgh, PA.

It comprises approximately 16,000 sq/ft of underground space as well as 1,500 above ground (sitting on approx. 4.3 acres). The underground building is encased by 1.5 (or more) feet of hardened, reinforced concrete, copper shielding (for EMP protection) and several feet of earth. Access is through blast doors.

The facility is in very good condition. Highlights below and some pictures attached. More pictures are available on request and a site visit is welcomed.

The underground section is approx. 16,000 sq/ft. Approximately 1/2 is open and the remainder comprises the infrastructure components (HVAC, generators, water & sewer...). Much of the HVAC, generators... can be removed for increased space.
Above ground is a 30x50' building that was part of the initial install of this facility.

This facility has:
2 deep-water wells. These aren't in use as public water is on premises and currently in use.
Commercial/city water.
It's own sewage facility (all up to date and full DEP Permits for operation).
(2) 225Kw turbine generators. Not tested or used. Remediation of external, underground fuel storage tanks is complete and we have the closure reports.
5,000 gallon water storage.
Fire hose system (in very nice shape but it hasn't been turned on or tested recently).
HVAC complete but retired in place. Al the refrigerant has been removed.
All blast doors in place and operational (electric closures on main doors as well as remote).
Fully functional 6000# hoist and trolley system.
Bathroom, kitchen and conference room, all fully renovated.
All blueprints, operation manuals... on premises for the facility itself as well as installed components.
24v DC emergency lighting.
120v, 240v, 277v, 460v all in the building with 8400v available at the transformer above.
Any/all asbestos remediation completed. Closure report is not available but all floor tile and such has been removed.
Decontamination shower in place and operational.
NBC filter (aka CBR as listed on the filter) is still in place.
All transformers, motor control centers... that we've tested are operational. Not all has been tested due to certain components being retired in place.
Approx. 4 acres.

We are getting older and think about downsizing too. Even thought of just living on the road in the camper like more and more older American' are doing these days. But not sure what we will end up doing. We moved away from both families because one moved to Texas and the others were planing to move elsewhere so we said lets go back to the water. We also liked the ocean and rivers, especially the St Johns River part of ICW.
Everything here is now exactly the way we want it. But the upkeep is too much.

Thank goodness!! We sold the camper yesterday. It was a nice camper but we don't go enough to own one. And didn't want the $15,000 dept. So we got $13,000 and forked over the remaining $2000 to clear title.
You'd think older is wiser but not always. We both lost our minds at the same time when we went to get a small used camper for solar hookup. When they got through with us we left with a 21 ft 2017 brand new cmaper.
We will go back to tents or our old van. Kids will just have to accept the memory we leave behind.:D They said it always looks like a flying saucer landed on their lawn where the tent was.:dunno:. They don't get why we won't stay in their homes. We like our own privacy and surroundings.

Congrats on selling your camper! I imagine it's a nice relief for you.

Thanks Zoom. Yes it was last used 6 mo.s ago. No sense in something sitting around best for it to be used. We had over 7,000 in it and thats is a HUGE financial loss mistake for us. Still have to pay off the $2000 we gave bank yesterday to get rid of it.

But next month would have time for , insurance and of couse loan payments every month we got rid of all that. Daughters live on cliffs or in huge macmasion with no yard not to park it.
My schoolie went right up those hills but old van and camper, NO WAY!

We have a 33 foot pull behind camper and use it at least 3 or 4 times a month for weekends but did camp for the whole month of October. We bought it from a couple who only used it twice. We got a great deal, paid less than 1/2 of what they bought it for new. Campers are like cars, the minute you pull off the dealers lot the value starts dropping big time!

My wife and I have been living in our 5th wheel for three years now. I'll be glad to get this house completed enough to move into. Then ours goes up for sale. It has held up exceptionally well, it does seem that the more you use one the better it lasts!
