I broke down and made a trip to the Tandy leather and after seeing some of the prices and availability on tools I am going to do like Frodo and make a few tool items.
What do you use to round the corners on smaller items?
I tried to find something in the 3/8 to 1/2 " dia. Range but the smallest arc cutter was 5/8" and $65 !!!
Later today I am going to build a leather awl, I'll start with a concrete nail and may hafta resort to a small file. Dang I hate messin up a good file.

Use a worn out chainsaw round file, just snap it off at about 6" and put the rest in with your hunting knife or fire starting kit, waste not, want not!

Rounding corners is easy if you have a disc sander and a gentle touch, a bench grinder will work too, but it smells like crap burning!

This weekend along with a shopping trip to Tandy I visited the vendors on the square in LIJ (Ellijay) to test the function of the my leather RFID resistant card holder the good news is that is functions my chip card could not be remotely scanned while inside.
I had a friend who runs a booth fire up here card scanner and i tried to get the reader to work with the card in the holder, I laid the card on the receiver four times ( once for each end and side) then afterwards I had the short discussion that transpires which comes down to,
It did not work! .... Yes it did. No it did not work! .... Yes it actually did work ,then I proceeded to explain what I was doing. She was not aware that credit theft thru readers was a problem and you would not be aware anything has transpired until to late for action.
Someone can brush by your purse or wallet and use your info to make a preloaded transaction.

I advanced my crackheads 80$ and haven't seen them since.
No good deed...

There's a couple of leather knives with Frodo's name on them down the end of this road...

I need some real thin leather a soft veg tan about 1 mil , all the had at Tandy that thin was stiff as card stock.
If you take the leather and wad it up in a ball over and over. It will get soft

Head over to Springfield leather and take a look see
They have some goat or sheep veg tan that is 1mm

What are you building? Credit card slots?

Glue twice, glue, let set, glue again, let set. Press together then tap with a hammer

Has anyone ever tried "liquid nail"? I have a pair of boots I glued a sole on back in the 80s with it, it never has let go!

Buy a can of the stuff that "dries soft" and test it.. It makes rubber cement look like kindergarten glue!

@ssonb

We were talking about stain and resist
Take a look at this saddle bag I am working on right now
On the front it looks like 4 different dyes were used but in reality I used a product called resolene and a antique jell
The more you use the less stain

Typically you wet a cotton ball then dab the cotton ball on a paper towel to remove what you just put on. Then apply the now almost dry cotton ball
On the leather

I've made a kind of tanning solution out of water-based wood stain and 100# alcohol but my results aren't consistent. Home-made Walnut stain works great if you can dunk your work.

Man that's some work there and Purdy to.
Been a bit quiet lately but I have been gettin over that flu that's running round but it is rough for about three to four days. Ya don't have an interest in anything when you got this stuff, ya know sleeping, eating, coffee and even leather work.
Now the DW has it.
