Yesterday the HAARP facility in Alaska conducted a test to see if they could detect a 9.6 MHz radio signal they transmitted reflecting off of an asteroid passing by. I was able to hear the signal being sent in southern Indiana. They were wanting reception reports and I submitted one so I will be able to get a QSL contact card from there facility.

So this is a large-scale radar test?

9.6MHz is between 30M and 40M and I would expect some ionospheric bounce. How is that taken into consideration? Also, how was this reported? PSKreporter or similar or did you just say you heard it?

This is neat stuff! I wish I'd heard about it before it was over. :)

Here is their information that was given out. I sent them the full (1 minute long) version of the mp3 file I posted here

HAARP specs say transmitting power is 3.6 gigawatts, I've read that they can heat the upper Ionosphere, kind of makes Clear Channel 50,000 watt transmitters look like wimps.
