Day 1 of not spending any money today.

-Yesterday we saved money by -
- topping up on fuel using our RACQ e-gift card and used our 4c per litre off with our supermarket rewards card to buy 120.5 lts of fuel saving $12.53 on usual prices. We only fill up when we have 4 jerries empty and filled up the car with another jerry too. We last filled up with fuel on the 17/6/19.
- Bought bread rolls and a loaf of bread on clearance saving $4.50 on usual prices.
- Purchased 32 tins of smoked chicken to top the pantry up with saving us $3.20 on usual prices in other supermarkets.

Monthly grocery shopping tomorrow for staples of which we need very few but might stock up on tinned fruits tomorrow.

Day 8 that the truck hasn't been driven. Before retirement truck's gas tank was filled twice a month. After retirement about once every 5 weeks, maybe 6 weeks this month.
$20 fills my new to me 2015 Fiat 500 Lounge for the month.
Still have little bit over 3/4 tank of gas left.
The new to me Fiat only had 31 miles on when I bought it 2 years ago this last April.
It only has 7590 miles on it now.

Busted again as we had to do our monthly grocery shop. We were under budget by $36 odd dollars even with stocking up on extra 8kg of full cream powdered milk and 5 extra tins of lychees.

I did save money by -
- Asking when DH had his eye on a hat for a few weeks if they could do a better price and saved $10.
- Got 3 free samples as I am a taste tester for a supermarket saving us $9.75 over buying them.
- Did the usual grocery shop and with specials picked up saved $21.75 on usual prices.

While I am not one for pre-packaged bug out bags or gear packages, I had an opportunity to buy some of those very things today for very cheap. So I took advantage. I picked up four Wise Co. 5 Day Survival Backpacks that normally sell for $70 each for the low low price of $100. That's $100 for all 4 bags complete and sealed. Plus they threw in two 5.11 folding knives and a set of "Old Timer" knives. The kits still have a long ways to go until they expire. 2 were red and 2 were digital camo, but I expect to give away the bags anyway as all I wanted were the contents. And the bags are pretty cheap.

Got more than a dozen free raspberry plants today from a neighbor. I could have gotten more but a rain shower moved in so we quit digging. Also brought home some horse manure from the same neighbor.
They were being over-run by the raspberries and we had the same problem with our strawberries so we swapped plants.:)

Yesterday I saved $30 on 2 bras that were on sale for $10 each. They were $24.99 each

Today I was looking at the clearance section in walmart and they had boxes of an egg substitute marked down to $2.99 ( were $5.99). I bought all they had. The back of the box has recipes using the product like muffins, quiche, pancakes, banana bread, etc. I plan on vacuum sealing the bags so they last longer and add them to my stockpile

I spent money today, but technectly I didn't figure I would get my deposit back from old apartment complex.
Got more than half back. Free money, so stocked up on things I don't normally buy.

2 Zuccchini for 50 cents
Shopped Save A lot grocery store spent $35
Bought meat 5 packages for $25 total of 20 pounds of meat(fill in to last to my next payday)
Got 2 packages of pork ribs, 1 package was little bit over 5 pounds, the other package was little bit under 5 pounds.
Got 1 family pack of pork cube steaks(8 in package, bigger than hamburger bun by half) so will get 2 sandwiches for each steak.
Got 2 packages of ham seasons 2.5 pounds a piece will divide into smaller packages for beans seasonings.
Got 4 BBQ sauces for 49 cents a piece.
Got a variety of seasoning mixes for less than 35 cents a piece got 6.
Went to another supermarket in same town spent $25 there too.
Bought 6 rolls of paper towels for $3.99
1 gallon of ice cream for $2.99
4 bricks of Kraft cheese for $2.99
Got 1 package of Johnsonville Brats for $2.99
1 package of thick sliced bologna 1.79
This store was also running 5 for $25 back to school ad.

Waited patiently for 2 long months for the stock-market to put stocks on sale.
I saved about $1,600 today.
Finally got paid a dividend on one of the 2 I bought in June.
$161 in free money:woo hoo:

Today was day 2 of not spending money. I might not make day 3 as hubby instructed me to go bacon shopping tomorrow- were are now out except for the 3 pieces cooked that are in the fridge. He acted like it was a national emergency or something. Geesh!
NO BACON!!!

A national emergency is a minor inconvenience that can wait!
This is SERIOUS!

You are not alone @Tank-Girl we are saving for a number of maintenance jobs in this home like leveling the house as it is on stumps and having a bore sunk both of which aren't cheap. We have worked out though that we are living under the age pension amount taking out our mortgage payments to get there which is pretty good and we are saving money as well.

Thank you SC.

I come here to document my progress and cheer other people on.
It can be a lonely business being in severe austerity.
100% worth it in the end though.
I was absent for a while, and have been wondering how your health has been lately. Better I hope.

Okay, on the way to work, I stopped at Grocery Outlet and purchased 30 lbs. of Daily's thick cut bacon. $9.99/3lbs. In regular grocery stores, it's about $15 for the 3lb package so at least I got it for a fair price. If you are not familiar with Daily's bacon, they are worth sourcing. They are out of Montana. We once did a bacon "cook off" to figure out which was the best bacon. Daily's was top (actually, their Cajun bacon but that's difficult to find.)

I have been referred to two different specialists in Brisbane which is over 9 hours drive away.
I keep getting passed on like a hot potato or a sweaty stick of tnt.
No one wants to admit they don't want to operate because they're frightened I'll die on the table.
I'm not frightened of dying on the table - I'm terrified of being turned into a vegetable.
I have worked in locked dementia and palliative care so I know what it looks like and I'm
having none of it.
Better a clean death than that or just not even bother going under a GA to start with.
