On Friday we saved money by -

- Buying up to and half price specials online for groceries on spam, mouthwash, toothpaste, vitamins & probiotics saving $81.90 on usual prices.

- Also took advantage of a 10% site wide discount on our online pharmacy website to top up a years supply of arnica cream saving $11.36 on usual prices.

Now on day 3 of not spending any money today :) .

Well, this is how outrageously expensive meat is down here.

The flyer for the local grocery store I got in the mail today:

Now for those of you that are not wearing your 'I ❤ MATH' button, this mean you can buy 10-pounds of chicken legs and thighs for $1.90 , but they do have a limit of 4, 10# bags.
So, 40-pounds of chicken will cost you $7.60 (for the younger folks, that's a five, three ones, with 40¢ change back):p.
Guess what it takes to make a guy break out the smoker-grill? Anyone? Anyone?

This pension I'm throwing another $150 at my yearly phone/ internet plan.

I use my phone as a wifi hotspot and so I buy a yearly plan that gives me 40 gig (?) of data per month for the whole year.
It costs me approx $315 and that's it for both phone and data.
I do however buy extra data if I run out and I'll be doing that now that I have the wifi cameras hooked up directly to my phone.
I figure the cameras will cost me a extra $20 to $30 in data per month but I'm not complaining.
Just having that piece of mind and having video evidence if something happens will be worth it.

I'm paying more money towards my new puppy.

I have a specialist appointment in the big smoke but I don't want to go.
My hips don't like the long drive and the aircon in my car leaves a lot to be desired and the radio has stopped working.
I've completely run out of care factor. In fact I'm pretty sure it's running in the negative atm.
Big hospitals are seething petri dishes of germs at the best of times....I've seen what passes as infection control at this hospital after my last surgery and color me unimpressed.

Well today I have the total amount of next year's once off internet and phone bill set aside.
I paid $100 off my puppy payment.
I brought a deluxe MineLab Gold pan set.
Filled the tank with fuel.
Grain for the chickens and ducks.
Groceries......I forgot to get my favorite XXXX hot Korean ramen noodles, pizza sauce and pawns.
Both supermarkets I went to were out of prawns.
I could have gone to my favorite seafood market but by that time I was very tired and out of care factor.
I wanted to buy a gold sluice but the budget just didn't stretch that far.
You do whatever you can do with what you've got.

Hubby sold his ford ranger truck and now he'll add another $1200 to put on the truck loan.
Also I'll call tomorrow morning and cancel the insurance on it which will save us some money on that bill
Also that will be one less vehicle to buy tags for every year ( which they increased up to $52 now)
Have a young fella coming today to pick up one of the army trucks to take to his place to sell for us ( and his commission). He's a good kid and we don't mind giving him the cut of the money

We're really working on getting that truck loan paid off. We're down to less than $10,000 on it now with this money

Have no idea what will happen in Jan and it has us on edge

Managed to get russet potatoes for only 29 cents a pound today ( that is unheard of around here for them).
Also got 5 pound bags of Pillsbury AP flour for 50 cents a pound. Have to freeze them then thaw and then vacuum seal
Smoked sausage for $2.50 pack
Canned soups for half price
Knorr sides for only $1 each. ( I add meat or veggies to them to stretch them for a meal)
Got bread on a BOGO

I saved $47.65 with specials and coupons today getting groceries. Pretty good and I've stocked up on some things

Mo, I spent money for freezers. I got two 7 cubic foot freezers for $432 when the sale price was $239 each. I got a discount!
The price for another upright was up near or over $1000 and nobody had any. So, I saved a bunch even if it did cost $432. :) silver linings

Rent is paid.
Bills are paid.
Got a dab still in checking account.
Got a bit in savings account too.
Car has been filled.
Last student loan is paid in full.
Great job on the freezers.
Thanks Mo,
You seem to be getting ahead a little. I'm proud of you!
Finance, health, and attitude. You should take a little pride in that too!

Sold some more things and now the truck loan is down to $3,000 ( from $16,000)

Have a gentleman coming today to apparently buy 2 army trucks for his farm. If he does then the truck loan will be paid off and we'll have some extra to work with.

This loan is the biggest thing we have owing right now.
We pay off our credit cards every month. Anything big and I save money until I can buy a prepaid credit card to but it with.

Next up is getting the motorcycles fixed up to sell. That will load off our minds and they'll be gone from the one garage and out of the way lol

Just ran year end numbers: Average groceries for a couple is $6636 per year. We were about $300 over that, and I stocked up! That was down by about $600 from last year but not as good as '18. Will work on lowering the number for 2021. Also, paying both a mortgage and rent, we still lived on quite a bit less than the average household income. Hoping to sell the mountain house this year which would knock our expenses down considerably.

Everyone at home paid me their fair share for the phone bill. Yay.
They also filled the gas tank, that saved me money.
They also went grocery shopping on their own nickels.
Couple weeks ago I removed a vehicle from the auto insurance and it went retro, I got a discount on what was due.

I put a dollar in the kitty at work for a soda/pop and water, and that will get me through the rest of the week too. That doesn't save me much but is cheaper than regular price.
