How This Guy Made the World's Hottest Peppers

The world's hottest pepper and the people who punish themselves by eating it is thoroughly lost on me. They need to put their time into developing the world's most delicious pepper. So often (or should I say pretty much always) it's all about the heat and in the process all flavor is destroyed. Like somehow these people forgot this is food. And for the record I like hot and spicy food.
pepper spray come to mind.
If the pepper is hot enough to burn the skin, why would you want to put it in your mouth?
I like the flavor of a good jalapeno but I take the time to remove the seeds and pulp. (unless I am eating them raw)

The scoville heat units of OC spray still far exceeds that of the Carolina Reaper and other ultra hot peppers.
I don't understand the whole hot thing. I like to taste my food.
