Reducing the definition of survival for a human to its most fundamental level..??

I have actually seen a perfect description but can't find it.

You require food, water, and shelter to survive. You can survive a month without food, about 3 days without water, but the weather can kill you in hours, even minutes.

the continuation of life and well being.

Phases=== 1) Daily Existence, Hand to mouth daily efforts. no stored supplies. 2) Temporary existence, small amount of stored supplies. good for a limited time. 3) Productive existence, stored supplies and the ability to grow / replenish supplies. 4) Comfortable Existence, Excess production, ability to barter / sell excess.

Anybody in phase 1, is not a prepper and will not survive very long. Most preppers will fall into phase 2 and 3. Very few preppers will fall into phase 4. JMHO
