I have an old Closetmaid drawer caddy that I no longer use. I'm wondering if I could cover it with plastic and turn it into a greenhouse. Anyone know how thick the plastic would need to be in order to keep plants warm enough? Since the weather here has been in the 20s already, I wouldn't be surprised if it gets that cold again before spring, but otherwise temps in the low 30s is all I'd have to worry about.

You should use 6mil, if you can find it, it what we use with azalea & fig cutting, as well as other plant & it held up to light snow.
Put gravel around the caddy, gallon jugs of water, a 40 watt light, all will help hold heat at night.

The thickness has less to do with heat retention than strength. The lighter the plastic the less wind it takes to destroy it. Also the quicker the sun will destroy it. You can also find clear plastic with nylon reinforcing that should hold up longer.
