I'd say you've got some decent BOL options in your own state. The Hill Country isn't far from you. Of course if you wish to look elsewhere, then you should do so.

I got out of the Air Force in October of 1965, one week later they extended service time due to Viet Nam. This is the best forum I've been on, good people and great information. Yup. Bug out location. 5 plus acres
Way off grid , well, decent soil to grow stuff or soil that can be made decent. Be nice if there were trees & water nearby/accessible.
