(CNN)First it was onions and now, it's lemons, limes, oranges and red potatoes.
The FDA has announced a voluntary recall by Freshouse II LLC due to a potential listeria contamination.
The recall was issued after Freshouse found Listeria monocytogenes on a piece of equipment at one of its packing facilities, according to a statement on the FDA website.
"We voluntarily issued this recall out of an abundance of caution with the steadfast intent to minimize even the slightest risk to public health," Freshouse President Jamey Friedman said in a statement.

This is why I never let them put a lemon in my water. You can't get the rinds clean.

I'm waiting for the time my old job has to recall summer sausage made in the summer for cross contamination.
It would get so full in the cooler the boss/company choose to store it in the smoke house area. Sure it's shelf stable and the racks we wrapped in plastic but the underside was exposed.

After the cook process of the various meats we showered the product in cold water to quick cool it. Some water would run out into the main walk ways into a drain near the sausage and if you weren't careful you would kick up little droplets of water that went flying.

We had a GREAT honest USDA guy I secretly told my concerns to but legally his hands were tied unless he saw a water droplet go from the shoe to the sausage. The place was so packed in summer we had no where else to store.

Some workers would never buy that stuff in summer. (Didn't hit the stores till fall or Christmas)

So far no recalls related to that. I'm never felt right about that so I'm glad I'm gone.

A few more interesting stories about that place but I jawed enough. Enjoy your summer sausage and cheese platters. It's only dangerous if everything wrong happens together.

https://breaking911.com/alert-bagged-salad-recalled-in-19-states-due-to-listeria-concerns/

Fresh Express is recalling certain varieties of its branded and private label salad products produced at the company’s Streamwood, Illinois facility because the product has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. This organism can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. Consumers with these symptoms should consult their health care provider.

Recalled salad items were distributed through retailers in the Northeast and Midwest regions of the United States, as well as distributors and retailers in Canada. U.S. distribution includes the states of CT, IA, IL, IN ,KY, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, ND, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, WI. Canadian distribution includes the provinces of Ontario and Manitoba.

I never pay too much attention to recalls, primarily because I'd never know when something has been recalled. We dont watch the national news, and there's no local news channels around here.
Most companies have extremely safe and clean processing facilities, and only recall products out of extream caution and fears of liability suits. I'm not worried. Of course we try to eat as little packaged and processed foods as possible.

https://www.naturalnews.com/2022-03-29-pancake-mixes-walmart-kroger-recalled-contamination.html

Pancake and waffle mixes sold at Walmart and Kroger grocery stores throughout the U.S. are being recalled after they were found to be contaminated with a foreign material.

Two separate recalls were issued recently for several lots of the Continental Mills Buttermilk Pancake and Waffle Mix. The first recall includes two lots of Kroger Buttermilk Pancake and Waffle Mix that bear best-by dates of September 1 and 2, 2023. This mix was distributed to Kroger stores in Virginia, Florida, Illinois, Arkansas, Indiana, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, West Virginia, Texas, South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio.

Less than 24 hours later, the same recall was issued for a lot of Great Value Buttermilk Pancake and Waffle Mix with a best-by date of September 1, 2023, that was distributed to Walmart stores throughout the country.

Officials say they have yet to receive any reports of injuries stemming from the recalled mix, and the company continues to work to ensure the affected product is pulled from the marketplace. People who already have these mixes at home should throw them away or return them to the store to receive a replacement from a safer a batch or a refund.
