Kitchen "CUTTING BOARDS"......Wood or Plastic or Latest Thingie..??

I'm still designing the kitchen but will have a huge Island that I'll probably make the top out of Black Locust and just use that as the cutting board. Will wipe it down with Bees Wax as needed.
 
A cutting board would be a lot easier to replace then a Black Locust counter top.
Maybe. But with a sawmill and plenty of Black Locust it wouldn't cost me anything. I'd think that Black Locust would last much longer than I'll be alive. Scrape it with a good sharp scraper every year or so and it's brand new again anyway.
 
Whether a cutting board is safe all depends on the care you give it.
