Hey guys,
I started this thread so that we can talk fishing or show off our catches. Unfortunately I haven't been in a while due to work but I did get a couple of really nice top water lures today in the mail. A friend that fishes bass tournaments put me on to them. They are called "Whopper Plopper" and are suppose to be really great top water lures. I can't wait until spring to try them out.

I have a lake house on Grand Lake of the Cherokee in Northeast Oklahoma. It's one of the top Black Bass lakes in the country but also has an abundance of White Bass, Spoonbill, Catfish and Crappie.
Here are some pics. of some of the fish I caught not to long ago.

Gumpy I imagine you are really liking your new place next to the river. Have you seen any flying carp yet?

Not yet. They are in some of the backwaters I've heard. I don't have a boat tho!

I need to try them in my pond,I tried everything imaginable last summer to get my bass in the pond to bite but nothing worked.

A guy at work was an avid fisherman and he said those that have a boat fish along the shore and those without a boat cast their hooks as far out as they can cast them. I think he is right about that most of the time.

Bout the only thing I fish with is ultralight and 4lb test. It took almost 40 minutes to get this one in!

It was as much fun as you can have with your clothes on!

I moved to Idaho just under a year ago, I live across the road from the Payette River and Squaw Creek and a mile up from where they dump into the Black Canyon resevoir. We have horrible fishing reports in my area so no one fishes here. I'll go out in my kayak on a Saturday and float down about 10 miles of river and not see another person. Water is beautiful. I brought in a 6.5 pound large mouth and hooked up on a few that pulled me around like I had an outboard, never in my life have I had a fresh water fish do that.

First off y’all a bunch of hunky handsome guys!
Second! Not fair!! I haven’t been fishing in a while. Miss it! Nice looking fish guys!

Anybody do any fly fishing.a buddy from Maine is trying to get me to try it but I'm in the Sunshine state

I used to flyfish a little. I gave it up because we don't have much for trout fishing in Iowa. It was fun catching bluegills on flies though.

Its not terribly hard to learn to cast. Just go out in the yard and monkey around until you figure out what works, that's what I did. What is hard, is learning to make an excellent cast, as opposed to an ok cast. It takes more practice than I ever wanted to put in.

Fishing didn't work out well for me

I love fly fishing. I used to tie my own flies but I have so many now that I just quit. As far as learning how to, I found an old book when I was a kid and followed the directions. My dad bought me a beat up fly rod and reel at an auction for a quarter. It's a great way to relieve stress.

I love fishing. I fly fish in north ga when there is enough space which is rare. I love taking out the kayak on rivers and fish lakes and ponds in south ga (our local lakes leave a lot to be desired imo). Got an emmrod this year and it is an amazing compact rod for tight spots and backpacking. Ive had great success with it. Emmrod has a very small fly rod as well. Its on my wish list and cant wait to get it and fool around with it. I dont tie my own flies. Too many hobbies to start a new one at the moment.

Anybody tried emmrods fly rod? Would love some feedback. Cant see how it would work being so short but I had so much fun and success with my other emmrod Im willing to take the plunge.

The flyrod I use I made myself. It's a 9lb, 9' with a fighting butt. I love catching panfish with it. We don't have trout in Alabama, but looking forward to tying some flies and trout fishing!

Interesting. I have a life long friend in Maine (I was raised there), and we are planning a little fishing expedition, hopefully in the late spring.

OK, so we are at the lake house for a few days and today I got tired of watching Christmas movies (after the 4th one) so I decided to go out and do a little fishing around the marina. It was 28 degrees and the wind was howling. I did wind up catching one little bass but I have been freezing ever since I've come back in. Chilled to the bone.
Caught him on a Go Go minnow and Big Eye jig. He was only about 8 to 10 inches long but I didn't get skunked. LOL!
