Sometimes putting them down is kinder.
I'm upset with my "best friends" today.
Abigail lived to 10 years old. She had gotten pancreatitis twice. The last time did her in. The vet took an MRI and found lymph nodes coming to the surface from the pancreas. Turns out she had pancreatic cancer and she died within 3 days of this. I held her and she died in my arms. I had told her it was ok to be at peace. Two weeks after she passed, I put in for a rescue (Brittany) and was told it could take 6-8 weeks to even be interviewed for any type of adoption. But then I got a call regarding an owner surrender instead from the Brittany Rescue group, and I have Kenze. Both have different personalities, but loving in their own ways. Abigail was a brittany as well (got her from a dr who was starting a hunting reserve and breeding them, and she scored low on her pen-hip xray). So both of mine have actually been owner surrenders.
Debra it is hard to lose one for sure. I have to think about what a good life they have had compared to other poor animals. But it is still hard.
I'll have to look up Brittany to see what they look like. Looks like they have shelty in them with the ears, nose and hair. Our 2 ten year olds mother was Australian Sheltie and whatever jumped over the mans fence.
Oh look at those pretty little eyes. Sweet.
this is what my Kenze looks like. She's almost 7 years old now.View attachment 7787

She's a nice looking dog. I always thought Aussie Shepards were two- or three-colored.
so the one that appears to be all brown with the longer hair and ears is an Australian Shepherd mix?
OMG, that poor dog and all of the possible mating. Did they spay her now, or do they still allow her to breed?
