Recently i found out that not every one knows what 'mater [tomato] gravy is.

we have it on biscuits

1/3 cup butter/lard/bacon grease. what every you use
1/3 cup flour, add lots of pepper, little or no salt
can of diced tomatoes
can of tomato paste
milk

heat the butter, add the flour, make a rue
add tomatoes and paste, and a 1/2 cup milk
stir and if to thick add more milk

it is true Southern soul food.

If you want to kick it up a notch, sub the tomatoes with rotel /green chilis
If you know how to make gravy this is a snap.

My biscuit recipe
2 cups self rising flour
3 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 stick butter/ wife uses crisco. her biscuits are better than mine
cup of milk
cut in the butter.
mix it with a butter knife
The trick here is to mix everything with out handling the dough a lot . NO KNEADING
turn the mix out on your greased cookie sheet, pres down with your hand to make it 3/4'' high
cut square biscuits or use a round cookie cutter. or a drinking glass
preheated oven at 425. till golden brown.
remove from oven cut in half and put the gravy on top
