I think it might be a hangin offence in Texas to call it a Puerto Rican flag. :p
I actually knew the New Mexico flag for some reason.

It would be handy if the location was filled in. I keep forgetting where some of our friends live.

Usually this occurs when using two step verification, but looking at your settings, the two step verification for your user name has already been disconnected. I'm sure Angie will help once she pops in here.

I agree with this one! Seems like there has been some discussion lately in different threads of reading materials.

I had a delete button for ages... disappeared sometime in the last couple of weeks...

I had bothering the staff if I put a post on the wrong thread by mistake... or post something thats worded so badly there is no saving it with the edit button, best to start over.

It was never intended for deleting own posts to be available to members. I just recently had it brought to my attention that was there. I don't remember having the settings that allowed it. I had turned it off as the main policy is do not delete, and also there have been cases where someone gets their underwear in a wad, and does a massive deletion. I've had to return up to 100+ for one moderator that did that on another place.
Usually members have one full day to edit a post and change what you have said if you said it badly.
Contributing members have one month to edit their own post.

So, I have set the settings as they should have been. And if it really needs to be deleted, just use the report button and tell why please.

So, you own my posts once I make them? Somehow I feel uncomfortable about that.

Copyright law states that the forum own the posts as they are laid out (formatted) in the forum. They can't use any individual posts as the author retains that copyright unless he or she provides permission.
If you delete a post and it disrupts the flow of the forum they have a right to repost it in order to maintain the integrity and flow of the forum.

I'm sorry you took it that way. Not deleting keeps the conversations going. Keeps arguments from having the horrible post from being deleted and then the horrible poster from acting as if the responder is insane.

If it is a horrible post then you should be deleting it. Likewise if it is a horrible argumentative thread. My words are mine to share or not as I see fit. You may hold copyright on the threads but each poster owns their own creation and controls their usage. We have several authors here. If any of them feel as though they are being treated poorly they should have the right to delete all or a portion of their work. Should one include a story into a larger published work they should have the right to delete that work without pleading for permission. I've been at sites where I was treated exceptionally well and then personnel changed and I was treated poorly, that's why I'm here. If you retire, die, sellout, or just change your policies I may not care to contribute any longer. Treat me right and you can have my creations after I die.

That is not what the copyright laws say.
As soon as you post on a forum your post along with the thread is no longer your post. It is part of a complete work that belongs to the forum owner.
The difference is you can copy your post (only your post) and use it elsewhere. The forum must use it as part of the context and content of the entire thread and cannot use just your post outside that context.
You retain your copyright but can't remove that part from the forum as you have given them a limited right to use it.

Posting attachments and editing posts on this forum hasn’t come as easily to me as it did on TalkFirearms, (deleting was an option there). Deleting and starting over has been easier for me than editing.

This also holds true for most internet forums Out There. I can fully understand why because if folks could delete their posts at the drop of a hat, many threads would be chaotic and not make much sense. And in turn, this would reduce the value of a forum for not only the owners but for members as well.
