Booom!

Two examples of drones being shot down in Washington. One was being operated over a private skeet and trap range by some environmental group and the guys shooting clay took it out. It was considered acceptable to the court and appropriate.
The other one was being operated in a sparsely inhabited suburb over a persons back yard where the property owner's daughter was sun bathing. The drone operator was charged with encroaching on the privacy of the family but the property owner was charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm within the city limits and fined. Since encroachment is not a crime it wasconsidered a civil offense and the property owner had to take the drone operator to civil court to seek compensation.

It shows that you have to consider the potential harm to others before you grab your shotgun.

And in many states you would also be arrested for intentional damage to property. Depending the value of the drone it could be a felony.

Sentry correct me if I am wrong but if you own property don't you also own to a certain elevation above said property?

That is a complex question and can vary depending on where you live, but a landowner owns as much of the air space above their physical property as he can reasonably use in connection with the surface. Meaning if you own the property and have never built anything taller than 25' and then suddenly decide to build a 200' skyscraper which blocks the sun from hitting your neighbors garden, they have a case against you. But if you took down a 180' tower to put up a 190' tower, then they probably don't.

Mysterious drone sightings in Colorado and Nebraska are being reported and one theory has them being deployed by a Mexican drug cartel, according to The Denver Post.

The drones have 6-foot wingspans and have been flying in grid-like patterns at night in the joining corner of Colorado and Nebraska, per the report.

Clusters of drones are flying between 7-10 p.m. CT, according to reports to the Sedgwick County Sheriffs office

"Oh, yeah, there's a lot of conspiracy theories floating in Sedgwick County right now," Sheriff Carlton Britton told the Post.

"We have no idea at this point. No leads and no thoughts. It's just an odd phenomenon."

A commenter on the Post's website suggested they the work of a Mexican drug cartel, according to the report.

"It's both weird and concerning," Washington County Sheriff Jon Stivers told the Post. "It would be kind of nice to know what they're doing."
