It looks like a "bad boy" gun, all black and evil but it is a bolt action rifle. That 25 round magazine makes it illegal in California and New York but it looks like it could be a decent gun. Like you say, "it's a Ruger".

I wouldn't call it 'evil', but it is ugly. Warthog ugly. Only time I bought an ugly gun it was a Rhino 357. Liked the recoil management, but the trigger pull was heavy and the 'hammer' cocking pull was too. Sold it while the selling was good.

The bolt and the mag look like a standard 10-22

Under the new Washington state law that might be considered an assault rifle and be subjected to all the new restrictions. It has all the scary features like a pistol grip and adjustable stock. The extended magazine will soon be illegal to purchase unless the NRA and the Second Amendment foundation win their lawsuits.
You also have to be 21 years old to purchase it.
It looks to have the same mag as a 10/22 but it is a bolt action. I might buy one in if it was available in .17 HMR or even .22 mag.

Ehh...probably a good gun but I've got my eyes on a CZ. A good .22 needs nice wood and blue steel.

I thought that was a tricked out 10-22 as well. I'd like to play around with that a little. Bet it's pretty accurate. I've never had a bolt .22 all mine are semi's which I like just fine. But I do think bolt action anything is generally more accurate for a given person.

I think that rifle is Ruger's attempt to corner the market that Tapco has been in for the tactical setup for the 10-22.

Grand Daughter got her first rifle 2 Christmases ago. After looking at a number of kids rifles like the chipmunks and such she held a 10-22 with the tapco setup. It fit her well as she was too big at 12 for the chipmunks and with the stock collapsed it worked. She asked for pink and after shooting in iron sights and then putting a scope on it she decided she was a "Scope Girl" in her words.

I have a CZ452. It is the most accurate .22 I have ever shot. I did a trigger job on it and it is smooth. I would buy another one if a good deal comes my way.
    Maybe a .22 mag.

Jim Fido is a CZ 22 guy. His enthusiastic ravings on the old RoogerTork forum had me convinced - except for the too many $$. I have a Savage B-22 that's nice, but it's a magnum.

The 10-22 is a semi-auto rifle and the new initiative calls it an assault weapon. This bolt action is not covered by the new law and you would only need to be 18 to buy it.

Been shooting for over 50 years, and I do have to say that this CZ 453 (set trigger, 1 oz) is without doubt the most accurate rifle I've ever had the privilege to own and shoot.

1 oz really? Way to light for me. Mine is around 2.5 pounds and that seem really touchy.

I like the story better when it's one oz. Jim. Never let the facts get in the way of a good story!

    Is it a bench gun?
I reduced mine to less than 2 pounds and the firing pin would drop when I banged on the end of the stock.

I hope it's a 'bench' gun. It's too pretty to take into the woods. I see it's sold as a varminter, but . . . . My 'modernized' Rolling Block 22 Hornet is attractive to me mostly because it looks so strange; that CZ is quietly, understatedly beautiful.

The $500 price tag is scary. I already have my Winchester target rifle and it shoots 3/8" groups at 50 yards all day long. That is plenty good for this old man. Plus I only paid $300 for my Winchester(made in 1955) if I remember correctly.
That Ruger bolt gun is fine but for half the money you could have a 10/22 which might be more accurate out of the box than most shooters.

I’ve shot that CZ and I can vouch for it. It’s one of the most accurate rifles I’ve ever shot! Makes hitting bullseye easy to the point it’s almost boring........well that never really gets boring lol

Yes sir Bob, it is only a bench gun, "Varminter" signifies a tapered bull barrel.
I'm fairly picky about where this gun goes, and who shoots it. Also, what type of ammo goes thru the pipe. Purty is just a side benefit...;).IF you ever see a 453 model....grab it. I've never seen another one.

Hey Mule, I do remember when you shot that rifle.....fun times, kinda something you never forget, when it seems so easy peasy to pop the same hole consistently without trying very hard. Thanks for the backup, I usually don't make statements like that litely.;)

Yes that was some fun shooting! I can't remember the Lady's name but I remember you helping her shoot it and her giggling every time she popped the steel down range with it.....lol I've been looking for one every since I shot that one, I did pickup an older wood stock Winchester 22mag bolt gun in really great shape that shoots really accurate but it's not near as pretty as that CZ. This one isnt mine but it's the same model and looks very simalar to mine,
    5927406_02_winchester_model_70_bolt_actio_640.jpg

This Rossi Heavy Barrel .17 HMR is also very accurate and have shot 20 round 3/4" or less groups with it at 50 yards
