Here's another 'Alt-build' idea for ya (though, ImO, just seems more 'labor intensive', and possibly Not as good, 'Insulation-factor-wise' as Strawbale / Stucco, but.. Still, Beautiful, and (clearly) 'Very DIYable'...

I would have preferred cob actually but wrong type of soil here and it kinda defeats the advantages if you have to buy the dirt.

Just curious - Why? I'd 'extrapolate': Better Fire resistance (possibly?) Easier / quicker, Overall, to DIY (?) Can't really imagine it's because "better R-value" (?) Bien interesante.

I would guess cob would be harder particularly if mixing the cob manually.

If you lived here near the "Former carpet capitol of the world" you could make an AstroTurf house for under a grand, and NEVER worry about leaks and a milk house heater would keep it warm. Little known carpet secret, the specs for Astroturf are so exacting, the smallest flaw rejects the whole roll!
