It's coooold tonight! 20 degrees on my porch moments ago. I already had a heat lamp rigged for the old dog but my young shepperd had nothing but his dog igloo and a big cushion. He got his own heat lamp tonight.

I use the same lamps I use when I first move baby chicks outside. They do a great job at keeping chicks toasty warm on cool spring nights.

They work just as well for dogs in winter, just a little extra warmth... I put bricks in buckets so they won't fall over. Then just clamp the heat lamp on the rim.

I found this a few weeks ago and put it under pet memes. In case others missed it I thought I'd post it here because...

I've discovered something about this 27sec vid. No matter how crappy my day... playing this a couple times will always bring a smile.

It's small, 1.6MB, you can save it to your pc and play it anytime...

Haven't been to one of these in a while... sad, I miss watching my cattle be sold. A livestock auction is a lot of fun when you know what's happening. They can be miserable to!

I was at a horse auction one night in a town named "Beaverton", 4 miles from the nearest paved road. They had some nice mules and a lot of tack going up for bid. But... it was 22 degrees in the area! It was cold that night! They had two small space heaters, one at each end of the ring. That was it! no other heat source. The most exciting part was when a lady got her handbag on fire, to close to a heater. You'd have thought she was on fire the way she acted.

The auctioneer was funny. When the lady calmed down he said "Sorry folks but that lady just bought everything that was left." 🤣

I loved going to the cattle auction with my Grandpa. Every time as we were getting in his truck Grandma would yell "Arnold don't buy anything". He never listened.
She made him take her car once. He bought a baby calf and put it in the back seat. That was a mess.
He bought 100 baby chicks. I think he paid 10 cents each.
I took my Granddaughter to the same auction. She went to get French fries. She came back with a puppy and no fries. She spent my $10 on a puppy.
It was at least 50 years between those 2 trips.

Hometown had an auction barn. It was set up by one of the more wealthy ranchers in the area. My grandparents had moved to town a few decades earlier, but would still go to the auction occasionally. Consider it small town entertainment. Founder is deceased and the auction barn is gone.

We go to auctions pretty often. The last Friday of the month (this Friday) is the fowl auction down the road. There's food, too. Farm auctions are a fun time. Then there's specialized auctions like the tractor auctions. Cow auctions are every Tuesday. I know there's a sheep auction here and there.

I had a teacher who had the exact same name, month & year of birth as a serial killer. He was only a few days difference in age. He got pulled over for speeding on his way to work one day and they made him lie on the ground at gunpoint while they searched his vehicle and examined his ID. Detained him for about 30min before they realized he wasn't their guy and they issued him some sort of special card to let other authorities know he was NOT the serial killer they were looking for. Could have gone much worse though.

That picture of the tropics reminds me of Guam.

My friends Stanley Cup ring. Well, one of his 3 Stanley Cup Rings.

When I was working at the airport the Stanly Cup came through the explosive scanner. All the TSA guys held it over their head had their picture taken with it, even the supervisor.
I asked them if they really thought it was the real thing. I'm pretty sure it was a copy that was used for display purposes. Then again it might have been the real deal.

1995. Myself and James Toney. Someone had messed with his car in his driveway and I responded for the report. James is a very polite and professional man and we enjoyed a long conversation while I was completing the report and processing for fingerprints. James was the one who offered the photo opportunity. I met several famous people over the years, this is the only picture I have because I never had a desire to chase such things. There was a boxing game on Playstation or whatever at the time and prior to ever meeting him when I played that game I would always select James Toney and did quite well, he was amused by the coincidence.

In the 70's my uncle owned a company called Wenner Petrolium, with his office in Denver. In 1978 he came to Dundee, Michigan for a week to drill a well. I was 10 and he picked me up each morning to spend the day with him at the drill rig. Somewhere I still have the small sample bag of drilling sand that was the first sample to include evidence of oil. Uncle Kenny always wore a cowboy hat so I borrowed my brothers hat and did my best to look and act like Uncle Kenny.
Looks like the name on the truck was Palmer Drilling Company, Oil & Gas.
