Question about snacks for chickens

Can you give laying egg chickens store bought suet?

I don't see why not. Chickens eat anything.

You can give them crickets if you want. That's a treat they love - well mine did.

I give black oil sunflower seeds, veggie scraps, egg shells for treats. If it is super cold out, i use some milk and cook oatmeal

Mine love the suet blocks. They also like all the things mentioned above, and go nuts for freeze dried mealworms.

Most of ours snacks come from the woods free ranging.Now and then kitchen scraps.

You need to watch a bit to get to the maggot feeder but it gives you a good idea on how to accomplish it. This also provides entertainment as the birds start watching for these tasty morsels to drop.

Some put a single layer of leaves on the bottom, others put gras or hay on the top, and most set the lid on the top. The smell is controllable.

I like the polyface design, but you need about 1-5 acres to do that design of free feeding, it saves about 40% in feed & fills the eggs with essential Nutrients, witamins & minerals.

You can also give them meat scraps (raw). Whenever we got a critter, once we were done getting the meat off, we would put the carcass in the coop. Hens acted like kids in a free range candy store.
