90th Bomb Group (Heavy), "The best Damn Heavy Bomb Group in the World" - The "Jolly Rogers" Based in the Southwest Pacific in WW II, the B-24s flew long range missions far into enemy territory, usually without fighter escorts. They took heavy losses as the Japanese were winning in the SW Pacific for most of the war. They mostly flew out of jungle airfields (cannibals, pygmy head hunters, snakes, and insects for company) in Borneo and New Guinea. They did not rotate out after a certain number of missions like in Europe.

Leonard Harrison State Park and Colton Point State Park perch on opposite sides of the canyon. A great spot for nature watching, kayaking. fishing, hiking and camping...
