Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF)

i dont know a thing about this other than i seen it recently being used on starved children. it says it has certain things in it that helps you absorb nutrition from it after a long period of starvation. seeing these folks on alone tv show and after leaving show often they have to stay in camp before returning home as they say they are started on a refeeding program.this one is called RUTF...theres another out there too. ..RUSF..ready to use supplementary food.

is this something we can buy on open market and does it have a shelf life, is it a item that might be of use to folks either in helping others or helping ourselves through a period of low food or time of sickness and we are trying to get back on our feet afterwards but regular food might not be the ticket just yet?

Never heard of it, but a good idea. Husband once ordered a box of Russian chocolate candy bars that had animal blood in it for an iron boost for children. They tasted ok.
