this is old news but i just found out today of his passing in 2019. he is my favorite author hands down.

heres a video from 2016 and you can tell he is not well then. not sure what happened and dont need to know. he done much for book lovers,land,water,hunting and recreation and more.
On May 7th 2020, Senators Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich introduced the M.H. Dutch Salmon Greater Gila Wild and Scenic River Act which designates roughly 450 miles of the Gila and San Francisco Rivers as Wild and Scenic. This designation will help ensure traditional and current use of the rivers while protecting critical wildlife habitat and growing New Mexico’s sustainable outdoor recreation economy. .
