We lost a cat this morning. Not really sure why. I went out to feed, as soon as Pumpkin heard my voice he started crying nonstop. He was unable to move, and bleeding out of one eye. No other wounds that we could find. The vet wasn't open for another hour and a half, and the emergency pet hospital was about an hour away. We decided to end his suffering here at home. We just can't figure out what could have happened and why he was in so much pain.

That sounds awful. I’d be asking the vet what could have happened to Punkin. Very sorry for your loss. Animals are family for some of us.
I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved companion. I know the pain that will eventually turn into found memories.
