We used to hatch chicks often back many long years ago when we had other breeds but this weekend I set my first hatch of homebred Speckled Sussex. Can’t wait to see what we get. I use a Lyon TX-6 so just 18 chicken eggs at a time. It has the auto turn though and regulates the water quite well from the attached bottle.

the old mechanical hen isn’t as young as she once was but even after a decade in storage she started right back up with no hitches.
 
Looks good to me but then I haven't used one but hope you peeps come out nice and healthy.

we had 14 hatch out of 18 set. Two pipped in the wrong place and 2 developed fully but never pipped. 13 pictured here. We traded 6 to another homesteader so we are raising 8. Second hatch is going to be set in the incubator this Friday.
