Stove blacked the stove today. For cast iron I prefer stove black over paint

Every time I clean the chimney I polish our stoves. It keeps them looking nice and doesn’t take very long. It lasts so much better than paint. This is the little stove in my shop, after burning wood in it all winter it still looks nice.

Don't use it on a steel woodstove. I did once and it was terrible. Once the stove heated up, the stove black slowly started to turn into a loose powder. This reaction occurred over time for several weeks. We had to keep wiping the back powder off of the stove.

Never used the stove paste.
We have four stoves on the farm.
