I went thru this after hubs was diagnosed with cancer. We were both declared disabled (for different reasons of course) and 2 years later automatically rolled over to Medicare. Shopped around for supplement insurance policies and ended up with United Healthcare. I am now paying $47.50, though I think it's more than that but the state is paying part of it.

When shopping, I talked with one of those 'specialists' that gave me a run down on upfront costs, coverages, copays for each of the different insurances and overall about the biggest differences was where your costs come in. Either pay higher premium and get lower copays, OR pay lower premiums and higher copays. Although I think it was Humana? Humara? that you paid up front and they reimbursed?

At the time, considering hubs medical needs/costs, I went with the least out of pocket for co-pays and that would cover any of hubs medical needs. RX, Dr visits, hospital, treatments, dental, vision, etc. I have no complaints for UHC, I still carry the same company and coverages, even though I hate DR's and haven't been to one in 4 years,......but I know that whatever may befall me and medical care is necessary, I am covered. The biggest drawback is the dental. Medicare doesn't cover it at all and UHC only covers basic preventative.

Does anyone SEE anything conclusive in this thread.....??? Like companies to avoid if possible. And maybe a few companies that appear out in front. In less than two weeks I have to act on this, I must choose something.

This is a Medicare thread. Everyone must find a supplemental policy that is accepted in their state. So there is no single company that can be recommended to all. I'd strongly suggest getting an Insurance Agent that is local and that you can meet with and discuss your particular health needs. (hint - It is FREE)

Otherwise you are just rolling the dice, and good luck with that.....

You have to give up some of your medicare benefits to get those "free" benefits that you are "entitled" to and "deserve". It's like an ala carte menu. You have a certain amount and you decided how to use it.
Boy, I dislike those commercials. Joe Namath is doing one of them.
I hate them & the Marine base one too.
JJ does one too.
I have three years till I can get all the free government gifts.

. Everyone must find a supplemental policy that is accepted in their state.
Actually everyone need to find one not only in their state but in their county.
My BIL had a plan and when the company found out he moved to a different county they immediately canceled him.
I had him contact the insurance agent I used and he was ably to get insurance with another company at a reasonable price.
Like @haboob said find a local insurance agent.

I have seen that commercial so many times that I can quote the entire script from start to finish.
I'm halfway thru learning the new 'politically correct' J.J. Walker version that is out now.
"I called to get all of the benefits I deseeerrrved!!!!".😁
Old white men are out. Not PC anymore, Sorry.

What they do to retired people living on a limited income, to make a damprofit, for me is worse than me dispatching feral cats with a hammer😔.
Here's what nobody sees.
Our insurance is changing from Humana to United Healthcare.
If you "called the number on the bottom of your screen" you will be paying for, and getting NOTHING.
