Life was good until his parents started implementing “Tough Love”. “No more college tuition. No he couldn’t come back home to live!” That’s what his parents had told him when he had called about being hassled by the college for tuition. His parents had talked tough in the past but always folded. When his house key didn’t fit the new door locks and the stuff he had left behind in “his” bedroom he saw piled by the curb for garbage collection he realized his parents meant it this time.

He shacked up with his latest girlfriend until her Landlord had found out and raised her rent. He left when they fought about him paying his fair share.

Then he bummed a room from a buddy. They played in a band together whenever they could get a jig. The band was more of an excuse for drinking, drugs and picking up girls. He wasn’t home when the police raid the apartment and arrested his buddy for dealing in drugs. “Now is a good time for a change of scenery” he thought. He loaded the few belongs that hadn’t already been pawned into his buddy’s car. “Well his buddy wouldn’t be using it.” was his reasoning. Drove from New York towards L.A. by siphoning gas, petty thief and living in the car. He barely made it to Williamsburg, Kansas before the car broke down. A couple of high school kids helped him to push the car to the Town’s only gas station.
