Chapter One

It was like the fall of the Berlin Wall, a total surprise. The prisoners knew something had to happen when the wavering drone from the Jail’s generator had stopped. The Prisoners had been unjustly complaining for days about the the lack of air conditioning and meals reduced to one meal a day. Anything and everything the Prisoners could think of to proved their “plight” to the guards they did.

The minority of the Prisoners were just locals. Driving under the influence, petty thefts, behind on alimony payments, a few wife beaters, minor druggies and the like. They woke Saturday morning to find their cell doors unlocked and no guards to be seen. The more adventurous of them quickly left their cells to explore the corridors to the kitchen. When they found the last door between the secured area of the jail and the public area unlock they walked out into the morning’s sunshine. It took less then twenty minutes for “C” Block to be emptied.
