How do you deal with limited water. Whether you have five gallons or 5,000 gallons you have limited water. Here are a few tricks that I practice after a lifetime on limited water.

Short showers and not everyday.
If it's yellow, let it mellow.
Front loading clothes washers use half the water.
Don't let the water run while brushing your teeth.
Capture the laundry water in a plastic trash can and flush the toilet.
Shower water can be dipped out of the tub for flushing or the garden.

A guy I know, with a bunch of kids, would use fresh water to rinse his laundry. He would capture the rinse water in one trash can and use it to wash the next load. He would catch the wash water in a second trash can and use that water to flush the toilet. that is three uses for those gallons.
