@havasu

Those are all just a little before my time. I didn't really start paying attention to music until the late 60's/early 70's.

I paid attention to music since the late 20s and especially the 60s and 70s. My mother played all kinds of music on the piano from Strauss to Jerry lee Lewis. She could go from Topan to Jerry Lee and all in-between in a NY Minute. After a couple of PBRs she was standing up hitting keys and pedals and gettign on down.

So we have a dead head on board. Here's one for you.

You might want to check out archive.org .... and search for "Dead Air," "Jerry Garcia," "Psychedelicatessen (Jerry Garcia Special)," "Jerry Garcia Band," and, of course, "The Grateful Dead." Archive.org has the best collection of Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia material I have ever seen. Being a "Dead Head" myself, I look for everything the Dead ever did, and Jerry Garcia as well. Enjoy!! I might also point out that everything on archive.org can be downloaded for free, and archive.org has millions of archived items ranging from music albums and singles, to research papers in Physics, to old movies, old tv programs, etc., etc., etc....all downloadable for free. It's one of the best, if not THE best, sites I've ever found. Sometimes you have to do a bit of searching through the archives to find what you want, but it is well worth the effort!!

Yep. I toured from '82 through '89. First daughter was born in '89 so that brought an end to being on the road all the time. But I did see a few more shows; 2 stadium shows in the summer of '90 and another in the summer of '91. I got off the bus after that one. The touring bus that is. Once a Deadhead, always a Deadhead.

From my annual party back in Oct. I'm on the left.

Check out archive.org ... they have everything the Dead ever did, and it's downloadable for free. Just one example: https://archive.org/details/gd73-02-15.sbd.hall.1580.sbeok.shnf

I am not really a big music guy. I do have an iPod full of classics from the 60's and 70's that I keep in the man cave and when I am driving listen to either Christian station or oldies. My wife loves the classics like Etta James and Frank Sinatra so we listen to a lot of that type of music. She also likes some 80's & 90's pop music but we do not listen to a lot of that.

But for whatever reason I get a kick of these guys:

And these guys:

I just bought a new car, which has built in Pandora. I find myself cranking up this guy and I especially love this song.

He has a great voice but I can't understand a word he is saying.

I like Julio and Placido. John Denver ' may he rest in peace ' did a good job in this duet with Placido.

More rocking and popular,

I want to have an old fashioned street dance on our dirt road. But most of the musicians around here hubby played with either moved, too old or just too busy. We use to have some good times playing music and cooking out. Young people arn't into music most don't play an instrument.
It is boring out here with no entertainmnet.

Sounds like something you would have advertise to get it rolling.

Put an ad on CL in the musician section with a heading something like: "Let's have an old time Music Fair" Then describe what you're looking for and where it could happen in the ad. You might be surprised at the response you get.

About 18 years ago we put an ad in the paper for musicians to get a casual group of people who liked to play but not profesionally. A group so hubby could play. One guy answered who use to play for an orchestra.:D. We went to his house it was ok but alot of big band music and classical. Hubby likes all music but more of a classic rock and country type. Very nice people though.

Reason I hope hubby doesn't sell his instruments before I have at least one of my long time wish of a street dance.:thumbs up:. even if it is just standards we need music during breaks.
Most people here like to get together but then stay to themselves which is good.
We had a few good get togethers but it has been a few years ago.
Had a Neighborhood Watch Meeting with sheriffs I got together on dirt road n front of our house and kinda of pleasant surprise a lot of people showed up. That was just a couple years ago.
