Perfect for working out today, not too cold or warm.
Highs in the low 60s,cloudy.
Heavy rains today, 4+ inches in the rain gauge, temp about 40 degrees. Weatherman said to expect another 2 to 4 inches over the next 24 hours. This is duck weather.
-8 Thursday night when I left work.. when I got home around 0215 it was around 10.
a tad warmer today at home at around 28 I think it said..clouds came in. yea!
I just realized it is Sat :/ yesterday I had off but musta been in a daze..lol damb!
chilly winds out of ENE
rain and snow are coming sooner than later
high today 31*
The rains finally eased off... still cold, just above freezing. A typical winter day in Alabama, 35 degrees and raining... or... bright sunshine and 28 degrees! Check back in the spring! Same as it ever was!
Really light rain this morning as I tried to blow more leaves to the garden. Finally gave up as they got too wet, so did I. It's been raining hard the last couple hours and suppose to have near 2" by the time it quits. There is snow nearby and more in the higher elevations. Wish it would move on down here too. Across the mountians they are expecting 10-20".
What's the conversion? 12 inches of snow = 1 inch of rain? Last time I checked the rain gauge it was over 5 inches of rain... just a little colder = 60 inches of snow?... Better you than me... Life here would shut down for 2 weeks.
Your conversion sounds about right. Yeah 60" would put the hurt on some northern states for a bit. Down south with no more snow removal equipment than we have it would shut things down for awhile. I was hoping the cold would come to this side of the mountain but no luck so far. I love snow and don't get much of it without going to the mountians.
To funny, years ago I lived in Buffalo, NY. Once we got 60 inches of snow over the course of a week. I had to dig a trench for my mailman. I could barely see the top of his grey skullcap when he delivered the mail... But life didn't slow down, streets were clear.
The bad snow is in early winter, before the great lakes freeze over... "Lake Effect" snow daily. By late December the lakes freeze, afterwards we might have gotten a blizzard or two... some below zero temps... but not a lot of snow until the lakes began to thaw.
@Bacpacker Glad you got to see some snow... you can keep it... That said I do like to see a few flakes from time to time. Other than that, I've seen enough. Two winters in Chicago and 3 in Buffalo... Like the old John Prine song "Please don't bury me" says... "Send my mouth way down south, and kiss my *** goodbye"
I've had enough snow...
Supposed to be sunshine and low 40's this week until friday when we can get rain/sleet/snow. we have to wait and see what it wants to do
Austin TX is clear and 38f at 6:00 this morning.
The actual conversion rate is actually 12" of snow = back pain and 12" of rain = no shovelling.
Girl, what're you doing in Austin!? I had frost all over car windows this a.m. Right now it's a balmy 59°.
We did too.
And I thought I was going to a warmer area for the week, geesh!, what's up with that...
It's 23f and clear at 1:00 am in KY right now.
Funny, one year in Buffalo a friend gave me a snow blower he couldn't get to run. All the bolts on the carb were loose. The real problem... all the carb gaskets were toast. A foreign engine, no parts available.
I discovered I could drive it into the wind with no problem. The opposite would kill the motor in a heart beat.
I made it through the winter with this piece of junk. The next spring I put it at the end of the drive with a big "Free" sign on it. I intended to tell the new owner what was wrong with it.
I happened to make a run to the market that morning... the snow blower was gone when I got home...
Too funny, I hope they figured out what was wrong with it.
well that 40-some degree weather didn't make here yesterday. it only got up to 34. sunny and nice but its only in the teens at night. brrrr
61 degrees, sunny, blue azure sky, a little chill in the air
Rain every week?
I wish who ever is praying for rain in South Carolina, would pray for more money in my checking account!
Today's high, 61 degrees! So much better than the below zero we had earlier this week!
I think we are getting a few days break from all the rain . We got 2 &1/2 inches last night within 2 hours.
Seems like we've had rain every 2-3 days around here. Ground hasn't been close to dry in a month. Suppose to have blue skys and 60's for the next three days.
Supposed to be sunny tomorrow, more rain by monday or tuesday...
47F with rain, rain and more rain. Been this way since August; rain 2-3 days a week.
72. sweet, 1/5/19. be chilly tonight. nice again tomorrow, looks like pleasant temps most of next week, some thunderstorms towards Friday.
It was -9℉ when I got up but now it is a sweltering -2℉. We had a freezing rain about 3 days ago and had to have the sand truck come by.
now 41*, clear no wind, no rain.
10 mile vi.
30.05 barometric pressure
Nice day, supposed to be 53* tomorrow.
Wind chill 24° feel. High winds. Can hear it, so weird.
Yesterday it was in the 70s.
Whatever it is it will drastically change in a couple days. Today is warm in the 70s, in a couple days it will be in the 50s.
It's 38f with a wind chill of 29f..and the wind is 18 mph.and here i am sitting in my living-room with the central-heat turned off.it's a comfy 72f in here right now..
