I sat around the fire almost all day, beef stew and yeast rolls.
Breakfast bacon eggs and hash browns.
Homemade Mac and cheese, BBQ chicken, green beans with slivered almonds, sweet potato pie
fish, (bleech), mac and cheese, bread, asparagus, fruit salad.
I didn't eat the fish, but everyone else did.
Chocolate pudding with chocolate covered graham crackers for dessert.
Taking it easy today. Gonna bake some fish, boxed mac and cheese and whatever can of veggies is first in line in the pantry
Boxed Mac & cheese? Even worse than that canned veggies? from a store?
Excuse me, I need a bucket.
It has been a lot of years since I have had store bought canned veggies as I learned how much better frozen veggies were than canned.
I have been making my own Mac and Cheese since I moved out from home. It is better for you, it tastes better and it is less expensive.
Anything that comes in a box you can make better and cheaper yourself.
Sorry, I seem to be in one of those moods today...
I don't eat macaroni, but I make one heckuva Cauliflower & Cheese.
Tonight I am making a low carb charcuterie board.
Baked chicken with slap ya mama on it. A large dinner salad.
Budget friendly, using the dibs and dabs of items in refrig door like what Sentry is having.
Baby dill pickles, Pepper jack cheese sliced, smoked gouda, grapes, orange, peeled and sectioned off,
Homemade version of various dipping sauces,(spicy brown mustard, bbq, ranch),broccoli, cauliflower florets, red, green, yellow, orange peppers strips.
Triscuit cracker(you know those shredded wheat crackers)
Chicken and broccoli Alfredo with spiral pasta.
I fixed the last few wings in this pack, a nice salad and last of the potato salad... a slice of cherry pie for dessert... yummy.
I usually get tired of the same thing too often but not wings. As long as I keep finding them on sale I'll keep frying them up!
New England Clam Chowder, cottage cheese, three bean salad and blueberry pie.
Chili, salad, and cornbread
Lasagna with sliced zucchini instead of pasta. I also use ground beef, sliced Italian sausage, mushrooms, onions, and garlic.
Burgers on the grill after dark! Yummy. I had chips and opened that jar of pickled beets from the little market. They were so good! I finally got up and put the beets in the fridge else I’d have eaten half the jar…
Yummy brunch... 2 eggs sunny side, thick slice bacon, home fries and toasted italian bread with amish butter & blackberry jam... Think I'll take a nap in my recliner now...
I found wings on sale again last night. $4.32 for 12 wings whole. Sooo! wings for dinner with potato salad from a new place I found, my new favorite.
I love that, "Amish Butter". My cousin cracks up everytime I say it. She says she's going to sell Amish water. I told her I'd make the labels, since she doesn't have a computer. Ha Ha.
Sorry, Peanut, not to make fun. But it's funny to me.
It's a big thing around here. We’ve all had Amish produced canned goods in the past or purchased furniture etc. but only when traveling. There are no Amish living in these parts to trade with, at least within 200 miles.
The little produce market I’ve been stopping at suddenly getting Amish jellies, jams, pickled this or that or butter really is a big deal! Guess what a lot of people I know are now getting for Christmas? And they are going to love it!
My wife texted me and said "Let's order in for dinner", which is very rare. So I am guessing we will have the Greek place deliver some gyro meat, tzatziki sauce, and Greek salad (cucumbers, tomatoes, black olives, feta cheese, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and Greek seasoning).
Clear beef broth with mushrooms, noodles, green onions, radish sliced then julianned.
How much are you paying for that butter, Peanut?
Granddaughter and I saw a roll of Amish butter for sale at our Albertsons store in Albuquerque! It was twice the price of other butter. Had lots of yellow dye in it, too. Couldn't figure out who made it.
@Amish Heart The butter is a very pale yellow, not daffodil yellow at all. The price was about $1 per pound cheaper than what I pay for the KerryGold Irish butter that I buy anyway and tastes a lot better.
I've already tossed the label. I'll check it again next time I'm at the produce market, probably monday. My mom is supposed to be transferred to another facility for rehab on her knee replacement sometime monday...
Edit here is a copy of the label image... Packaged by Troyer Cheese Co. Millersburg Ohio
Sounds like you got the real stuff. Unlike what our Albertsons sells. I think what they sell says Amish Butter Roll. Troyer is a common Amish last name.
Fish Cakes (the wife has Fish Fingers) and sliced crispy potatoes and peas.
We buy our butter at a couple amish stores we go to when we can. They are pale yellow and come in a 3 lb log. Very good butter.
Tonight is BBQ smoked pork loin and chopped veggie salad (like pasta salad sans the pasta).
Have a roast in the crock pot and we were going to have it with potatoes and corn on the cob. Husband is hungry for burritos, so now it's beef burritos with corn on the cob.
Tonight was the first time I fixed an entire meal for my dad. Granted the potato salad was from a new deli I found (so good) and the pickled beets were from the little market. He loves both, especially pickled beets.
I fried a big batch of wings, his favorite part of a chicken. I used fresh Italian bread to make garlic toast with fresh crushed garlic. I had lemon cake and peach pie to choose from.
He and I were both stuffed. Crap… I had deviled eggs in the fridge and forgot to put them out.
Chili, salad, and peach cobbler.
