What is your flavorite blooming yard shrub & why?

@Pearl I didn't know lilacs grew well in Texas! my heart!
@Peanut we had two nice Vitex (chaste tree, monk's pepper) at one of our houses here in Texas.
Crepe Myrtles grew fine in Maryland, Eastern Shore and central Maryland. We had an older one at our last house there. I have one in the yard here in Texas.
My mom bought a lilac bush from a nursery in Benbrook 32 years ago. She stuck a shoot in the ground from it a few years later and it grew!! I can't walk by them in the spring without sticking my nose in them! Bumble bees also love them, they will chase you! Learned that the hard way!😯🐝

Kurume hybrid evergreen azalea for Spring
oakleaf hydrangea for Summer
Crepe Myrtle (Lagerstroemia) in Fall
Camellia in the Fall
Confederate rose (Hibiscus mutabilis). Fall
