I had a cat from the pound for 19.5 years. I was told she was a Maine Coon or partial Maine Coon cat. She did get up to 15 lbs most of her adult life.

April of 2015 she was find on Friday and could not even raise her head or lick water/tuna juice/milk off her mouth when I tried to get something into her. So, she was escorted over the Rainbow Bridge. CCR has met "Pisker".

I am favorite person when I go to Mom and Dad's and Chloe, their pound rescue loves to have me take her for a walk.

Aunt Peg's doggie Maggie Loo, looks forward to me coming as I often have chicken nuggets, and give her bites. (broken off).

So, what animals are the fur members of your family.

@CCR, I know you have fur kids.

We have two dog brothers that were found on the side of the road as starving puppies that turned 12. It used to be three but we lost the alpha to cancer. We currently have two cats, one much too fat, the other sleek as an eel. There are six chickens, my favorite is also the oldest, she is 12 1/2 years old. And my beloved Guineas.

Head Tuck says hi!

It's a Silkie. Basically a lawn ornament in the US but a delicacy in Asia. My lawn was highly decorated when I was still raising them, I had about 100 of them.

I really need to do something to organize my pics, I can't find the ones with all of them out in the yard.

So pretty. I can see why you would get attached to them as others do to dogs and cats, etc.
Unfortunately I get attached to all animals. The biggest reason I wouldn't let hubs put cattle on our place. I'd name them all and they'd live out back for the rest of their lives.

I think I know which one you're talking about but since I just started my coffee I can't think of the name right off.

Silkies do have black skin, muscles and bone.

Thanks, Mark.

I gotta start learning about chickens. I'm going to do a coop with a need for eggs and some for fryers.

Our cats. My wife will possibly just go ahead and go with them when they die. She's disabled and spends her every waking moment with them. Larry the big fat black and white rescue and Merry the humane society Christmas gift.

Great pics. I really like that second one, it's like "go ahead, I'm special and I know it."

The first one reminds me of my fat cat, Sissy, that's the position you'll find in whenever she's on the floor.

I have the same concerns that you do. Our dogs are large and turned 12 this year. My hubs is also ill and I have serious concerns if anything happens to them he will lose his will to keep fighting.

If you have questions, Patsy and I can help you. Maybe not with the fryer part since ours are mostly for eggs and as lawn ornaments.

Thank you Robin. It will be awhile since I don't live here full time yet and ya just can't leave animals unattended all week. I am a meat eater though so I'm sure I'll have fryers. My grandma used to butcher and pluck chickens in her back yard......god she was awesome. I've had enough of the rat race. I've been very lucky to make money enough to set myself the way I want to live in my golden years.........hopefully my health will make ito_O:D

Then you're way ahead of me on the processing part. The only chickens I was around as a kid was my great grandmother's. She had a rooster that was mean as a snake to everyone but her.

Here is the last pet I have. She lost her sister a year ago. I planned on getting her a new sister but seems she doesn't care and now reaps the benefits of going to Home Depot with me, which I could never do with two dogs. View attachment 20
Some do really well without another canine companion. Sounds to me she has it all worked out on the benefits of being a single.

We only have one pet. A one year old Boglen (half beagle and half Boston terrier).

We also have 3 German home security systems that simultaneously serve as jungle gyms, early warning devices, back yard playground monitors, dining room floor cleaners, solicitor repellent, snuggle buddies for kids and mail arrival notification systems.

We have 2 fur babies who were rescues. We also have a very large mouser who brings us half of his bounty on occasion. We have 16 chickens and a number very fat predators because they like chicken, too.
I'll post pictures as soon as I can figure out how. I think it's my computer not the site.

Were the misters all the same breed? Our three obviously had different dads. One looks like a lab although small, one looks like he has herding dog in him, the other probably has hound in him.

Yep, all three are females of different ages from the same full blooded German Rottweiler mother but different dads. The German Rotties are a bit smaller than American Rotties, but they do not have as many health problems from over breeding. Their mother is no longer breeding so our next one will come from one of their younger sisters.

I have 3 horses, a house rabbit and 1 cat, having lost my other one in October when she was eaten by a bear. Still not over that.
