I know what yall are thinking but if there ever was a bad time to quit smoking it is here and now!
I already look meaner hairy legs and all, not a happy camper nor is he, so smoking may not be as dangerous as not smoking at the time. :peace:
I'm the only one in my family who didn't smoke, remember when dad quit (for a while) he gained 40 pounds and was miserable. After he died (result of crossing a bull with 10,000 gallons of premium on the freeway) they checked his lungs, clear. On the flipside of that coin baby sister died 5 years ago from COPD - Don't want to go that way. I guess the moral of the story is, " try to avoid too much red meat and smoking, they both can kill ya". Honestly, I encourage my friends to quit, but if they don't it their business. Afterall non of us are gitting out of this thing alive.... Urban

Researching ADA grab bars for the down stairs half bath. More and more of our friends are getting old. Wife's girl friends are leaning down on the toilet paper holder to get up, one of these days POP and I'll have drywall holes to patch.

I'd prefer installing a chair height stool. No holes in drywall but more expensive. Then what do I do with the perfectly good old stool? Store it forever or trash it?

@Weedygarden Something I use often... Sieves or Gold Sieves. They are made to fit the top of a std 5 gallon bucket. The screens coming in multiple sizes. You can get metal screen or preformed plastic screens. The plastic ones are cheap.

Even though I haven't been gold prospecting in years I still use my sieves several times a year. I sort seed, clean chaff from seed... Heck I've even sorted freshly shelled peas with them, get the bad ones out. The bad peas are usually smaller and will drop through the proper size sieve.

They are really good for cleaning roots, put the roots and dirt in a sieve, sit it on a bucket then use a water hose to wash them. Perfect for out side, stuff you don't want to bring in the house. You can stack several sieves of different sizes on one bucket for sorting material into different sizes. The list of things they can be used for is endless...

Keen Engineering is a reputable company... been around since the 50's. I've done business with them several times.

Largest supplier Gold Pans, Prospecting Equipment and Metal Detectors These folks are in colorado... a prospecting store, never done business with them.

Edited to add... Long drive early tomorrow. I'm taking dad to his hearing aid doctor... 3hrs one way... I dread this...
Thank you! I will look for these. The original contraption that I made worked for sorting many five gallon buckets of rocks out of my yard. It also worked for sifting compost. It is rectangular, made with 2 x 4's, and I set it over 5 gallon buckets. There is always some stuff that doesn't hit the bucket.

Time to pack and load up the car. We have two one hour appointments at the hospital this morning, then the long drive home, about 8 hrs. I will be glad when we get there.

Have a great drive home! I know I am always glad to be back home whenever I travel. Great to see you two again.

I trashed mine, just replaced a couple weeks .
Too much accumulation.

Blanching peas for freezing .

Then back to making pasta sauce as long as we have tomatoes.

BLTs for lunch today.

Gotta go to my shop and fabricate a vent diffuser , to keep cold air from blowing on wife.
Hope to try the new air fryer later this evening.

@Amish Heart , y'all watch out for idiots on the hwy.

Guess what? As predicted, kittens are still here but in the garage. Not for long because it'll get too hot in there. They're going to put them in the one bathroom, or leave them outside in the big poochy crate. Supposedly, the lady can take them tomorrow and "quarantine" them at her house until they can be adopted.
Nice and overcast again today. I'm hoping for more rain.
Find something to be happy about, find a way to laugh. There is too much gloom and doom in this world.

Been busy today.
Strawberry has been walked several times.
She's been out several times too.
My closet has been gone thru..
My clothes are now in garment bags by seasons.
After laundry is done in the next couple of days, it will be the only clothes hanging in my closet.
Started packing kitchen, almost completely emptied several cabinets.
Going to wash pots and pans in oven, only keep one out, pack others.
Still need to shred file cabinet papers.
Finish packing kitchen.
Apartment looks funny with not much on the walls.
Just got 1 shelf in bathroom cabinet left to pack too.
Resting now, sipping coffee.
Strawberry is beside me snoozing.

FOOD NIGHT ALL. For those who may enjoy it here is an Iriish lulaby

Meer, I don't know if I ever told you, but my Gpa looked much like Bing (handsome fella.) He lived out of North Hollywood and sometimes when he was out and about, people would come up and ask him for his autograph. Then they would get mad at him when he signed his own name (not Bing.)

Here is the sieve I keep on the porch for working with all my potted plants. It's great for busting up clumps of soil or separating soil from plant roots in the fall.

I have 5 different sizes, different size wire mesh. If you look close at the 2nd pic you'll see screws on the inside ring that hold the mesh down. When the wire mesh wears out it can be replaced. The housing that sits in the bucket is heavy duty and can be used for many years. So the $25 price isn't a bad deal, you're really paying for the heavy duty housing, the screen wire is cheap.

Last night I went to bed thinking I would be driving to Memphis today... Wrong... Dad has a hearing specialist AND a hearing Aid specialist. One is in Memphis, the other isn't... So my drive today was only 2.5 hours round trip instead of 6 hours. Dad got his hearing aid fixed. He can no longer get away with ignoring mom.

Anyway, back home safely... on the way up driving through a little town I saw an old guy selling watermelons out the back of his truck. I thought I recognized him. I was right. I stopped on the way back and bought 2 yellow meat watermelons. This guy used to sell at the farmers market when I did. He was a nice old guy, even gave me a deal on 2 watermelons for old times sake.

Meerkat, nobody wants to think poorly of you for cigarettes. We are not to judge. It's not like you're depriving your children or pets of food so you can smoke.
I didn't smoke for long, off and on for 10 years, and didn't start until I was 20 or so. Every time I was around my parents, could be for hours, I would not have the desire to smoke.
When I was finally able to quit, I quit completely, no further urge, desire, or "got to have." I hope and pray that for you. It was a miracle because I had tried to quit many times.
What have they done to tobacco to make it so addictive? In and of itself is bad enough.
Amish, you are having a rough time and prayers for you and your man that you are protected and kept safe through the whole thing.
Clemkadiddlehopper, prayers for you too, protection and strength.
Bacpacker, I'd love to see photos of your big tomatoes and other veggies.
It rained here this morning for quite a while, Glorious. Would love that every day. Miss that kind of weather. No thunder.
I can't write a book here. Sorry for the long post.
Kids went for a walk and found abandoned kittens. They will take them to the no kill shelter tomorrow a.m. The one looks like a happy "grumpy cat." So cute, the other one is black and pretty. They were very hungry. This is why we spay and neuter our pets and yard animals. So they don't end up road kill, bait for dog fights, dinner for coyotes. If you can't afford to spay and neuter and aren't going to keep them restrained, then don't have a pet.

Here are some pics Patch. The tomatos are Lemon Drop and I got almost 3/4 of a 5 gallon bucket from one plant last night. One of them was over a pound

Hello everyone and been a bit absent of late but we are fine and just been busy with medical appointments and the like and catching up with much needed little jobs around the home :) .

DH has spoken to the neurosurgeon and they have identified 2 brain aneurysms from the angiograms and want a second more detailed one before operating on him to see if he has more. We are heading down for that on August 13 and will stay a few days in RSL subsidised accommodation of $20 per person per night including meals. No matter how many aneurysms they find they will clip the lot on the one surgery. So far there is one that is 5 - 6 mm and the second 3 mm or slightly larger.

On to what we did yesterday is that after selling our bottle trees for a neat $1500 cash to a stranger that just dropped in and knocked at our door, and them removing them, we had room and loose soil to plant our potted lemon and Washington navel trees into the ground.

Also yesterday we fixed up a split grey water hose and put in a joiner and a t-piece so we can water two fruit and berry trees at the same time and replaced a storm water 90 o angle piece on the roof where the rainwater was leaking through the cracked join.

Round 1 of today so far we have both done a load of laundry and hung it on the clothes line to dry and I have put on a loaf of bread to bake in the bread making machine.

Home again! And had a welcoming committee. Grandkids, neighbor kids, and Mattie the babysitter all walking the dogs, then next door neighbor, her mom and younger brother all walking up. Glad to be out of the car.
Meer...he has scheduled new drs in Kansas, but we normally go to Denver twice a year to a pulmonary hospital called National Jewish. They are the best in the US. He only has one lung that works, so we go there, and then they work with his regular pulmonary doc where ever we live. So we meet a new one in Wichita next month. As a teen, his lungs were so bad, he lived in Denver at the hospital, and attended High School there.

Wow! all of a sudden the pictures are really slow loading. I checked my speed and it is still above 110Mbps so I assume the host is throttling for some reason.

Round 2 of today is that we deep cleaned the RSL club as volunteers with yes you guessed it a double clean with soapy water and then a second clean with disinfectant on all highly touched surfaces. We were done in 1.5 hours and also swept and double mopped the floors too.

When we got home we took the 2 loads of dry washing off the clothesline and brought it upstairs. This afternoon I put in our online grocery order for staples and came in way under budget which is good.

Tonight's dinner was rump steak and steamed homegrown sweet potato, carrots and silverbeet and some steamed commercially purchased sweet peas.

Busy day today. Our truck needs to be picked up from the dealership in the nearby town. It was giving up issues last week. Need to set up brooders for chicks. 45 should be arriving in the morning tomorrow...Jersey Giants, Buff Orps, and Easter Eggers. Fifty more coming from a different hatchery a few days later. School registration for the twins at the High School this afternoon. We already reached out to the band director, and marching band camp starts next week for half day, so they're excited for that. School starts here on 8/27. Not sure when registration is for little one. Have RX pickup to do for hubby in town, and the cable guy is coming out today to see if we can get internet and tv connected. They don't do much in our area, since most people dont have electricity around here and don't use internet or tv. Kids are super excited about checking out the High School.

Working on a tire pressure problem.
Moved the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) from my pickup and utility trailer to a F350 dually.
Next morning one tire was flat.
Air up the flat tire and screwing on the pressure sensor (PS) I screwed on really tight.
Next morning the tire was flat again.
Found the box the TPMS came in. Extra rubber gaskets. Replaced the gasket on the PS and aired up the tire.
Next morning the tire was flat again. Hmmmm. Could be I picked up a nail in the tire?
Air up the tire and left the PS off.
Next three mornings the tire was fully inflated. Hmmm.
This morning I will swap the PS with another to see if the problem follows the PS or stays with the tire.

Problem stayed with the tire.
Concluded there is a valve stem seating problem that I can not see or feel.
Front left tire has a 1" valve stem extension.
Removed the 1" valve extension and moved it to my problem tire.
See if that cures the flat problem and/or creates another problem with the front left tire.
I could saved time and bring in the big guns, a bottle of soapy water to check for air leaks, but where's the fun in that?

Watched the Mars 2020 rocket launch. Lander is on it way!
