New house build is progressing. The overgrown cross fencing and what was left of the old barn were cleaned up by a kind neighbor and his D6 Cat. That allowed the contractor to push out the topsoil from the path of the driveway and compact the clay soil. Also, trim and doors are installed downstairs and the mantle was put into place above the fireplace. We salvaged some more oak from the barn wood and planed and trimmed it out for the built in bench in the hallway. The cement board is in the master bath and closet and we picked out grout colors (yay! Super exciting!). Cabinets have arrived and we will order the appliances this weekend. Might actually get in by Christmas.

Busy day, lots done. Trip to the big town this morning, got a new printer, was marked way down. This was the pre-black friday sale. Old models going cheap.

A couple of more errands to run afterwards. Lots of cleaning when I got home, my computer station needed major wipe down then some laundry.

Thinking about you Peanut, dealing with parents.
Mom's nurse called today. Wanted to put her on antidepressants. Ordered a cognitive test tomorrow. She is telling really wild stories. Saying a girl and her dog visit her all the time. Not happening. She's dreaming.
Told her to hold off on the antidepressants. She's mad because she needs a new recliner, and her tv is not working. I emailed the maintenance man to see if that could happen tomorrow. Her legs are swollen again. Arranged for house keeping to come in and do her laundry, vacuum, and get sheets and blankets on her bed. She's being put on water pills for the leg swelling. I just talked to her, and she sounded fairly coherent. Still talking about the girl and her puppy. The cognitive test should be interesting.

Amish Heart... I know the feeling... Mom is starting to show signs of dementia. Dad and I talked about it not long ago. He noticed it almost a year before me.

Still... Mixing lots of pain meds with their age the last couple of weeks... several times I've had to walk out of the room laughing... They crack me up almost daily! :D Especially dad! :D Because of the pain meds he'll get something stuck in his head... it's like "Who's on First?" with Abbot & Costello. I can't help but laugh. :D:D

Started off the morning with DH vacuuming the whole home and I deep cleaned the bathrooms and toilet. I then mopped the all the vinyl floors and used the mop rinsing water to water potted fruit trees with and emptied the mopping water on the lawn in one patch. DH stain removed some clothing, put on a load of washing and hung it on the clothes line to dry. DH is about to water the vegetable garden with the drip irrigation system and hand water the potted herbs and fruit trees and will top up the kangaroo and wallaby water.

This afternoon we went to the RSL club for our weekly date afternoon and had a soft drink. We spoke to the President of the club and his home caught on fire this afternoon where apparently the wiring leading up to the air conditioner caught fire and melted the air conditioner unit and made it up into the ceiling of his home. He had a fire extinguisher but couldn't unlock it as he has macular degeneration and couldn't see it and was panicked. He did however turn off the mains power in the power box and the fire brigade took 45 minutes to get there to put it out so there is a bit of damage and smoke damage throughout the home. He is lucky it could have been much worse and has temporarily moved in with his brother and wife until the insurance company cleans and fixes it.

Tonight's dinner will be homemade pizza and likely ice-cream for dessert.

Thought I would report in on my second day out of Surgery , I feel great, and have not had any pain, just stiffness and sore.
Of course they have me on pain killers.

We are still fighting the BP issue. It wants to hang around 90/50 and they are bombarding me with saline IV, now a pill that help raise it and it just went up to 102/60 ,,great , now I can have real pain meds instead of Tylenol.

I'm am so far ahead of the last one already, I'm doing motion and walking like the last one was at 3 weeks . I think the high protein , exercise , and heat pad the last 6 weeks really helped.

Jim, have you made up any stories about the scars yet?
Was it a big bear? or maybe a shark attack that you fought off with your bare hands? :)

Wow........I hope the other guy looks worse than you do.....:ghostly:

Yesterday I slaughtered a spent hen.
She's actually a cornish cross meat hen who was the runty end of a run and I just run out of puff and care factor by the time it came to processing her.
Well didn't she grow and grow.
She ate as much as 4 egg chickens every day and was flat out laying twice a week.
She was so heavy she couldn't perch and had to sleep on the ground.
With the seriously hot weather I was worried she'd get heat affected and die so best to get her processed before all that meat got wasted.
I didn't weigh her but wow she didn't fit in a 6 ltr slow cooker.
I had to cut the legs and thighs off so she fit.
I had the slow cooker running over night and the stock is awesome and the meat is reasonably tender.
I'll bag up the shredded meat into meal sized lots and freeze it and strain the stock and it'll be frozen as well.
The guts, skin and feathers etc will be frozen and then put in the bottom of a hole when I plant my next fruit tree.
Nothing will be wasted.

Yesterday was my best day.
I was giddy, I felt so good .
Well that was short lived ,and I knew I was gonna be.

Today when I got up from 3 hrs sleep , I was asking for more pain meds because swelling took over .

Made it home, but it wasn't easy.
Every movement hurts now.
This will slowly get better.

Ice packs 24/7 if possible for 2 weeks now.
Pain will subside daily after tomorrow.
I'll sleep a lot.

But it's good to be home.

Looks good Jim.

Had the grand daughter today.
She was full of P&V.
Three days ago she was admitted into the hospital for tonsils.
Her tonsils were so swollen they were touching, blocking her airway.
Today she was almost back to her ornery self.
Course Strawberry hovered by her all day today.
Somewhere in the course of the day, grand daughter shut off dehydrator.
Rather than take a chance, just threw everything away.
Not suppose to have her again till Tuesday.
Her tonsils come out 4 December 2019.
About broke my heart when they had to put IV in her.

Jim,
Check these out. Circulates ice chilled water around your knee. Just gotta keep the ice bucket loaded.

THere are different models, some kinda pricey. A guy I work with got one and used it after knee surgery and raved about it. His wasn't a replacement, but the principal would be the same.

I used one after my first knee surgery and it worked great- lots better than having to make up an ice pack or refill an ice bag every few hours. Your incision looks great! Hope you're feeling better soon!

Stay at that rehab Jim!...;)

I spent the morning setting up the printer I bought... THEN, it finally caught up with me... I laid down at noon for a short nap, slept like a rock about 4 hours! I needed it badly.

Woke up and started checking out all the bells and whistles on the new printer. I got a few months worth of printing to catch up on, just odd and ends, lots of labels to print.

Had a nice dinner, now I'm going to rest some more and watch a little tv! :)

@Amish Heart Any word on those tests for your mom? or the tv?

Looks and sounds like you're doing well, @phideaux !

Spent yesterday taking Peanut Butter to the beauty parlour and ran around grocery shopping until she was done. Put up(high) new smaller Christmas tree (because of new puppy).

Today, made Christmas ornaments for folks on another board I frequent and finished all Christmas cards for the year. Added more lights to little tree in window. Not a big couple of days.

:woo hoo: Power is back on! No electric for just shy of 48 hours. It was not too bad but we sure are glad to have it again.
Heat was no problem because we usually use non-electric gas for heat anyway. Cooking was okay because we have a gas range. Missed lights the most. Candles, oil lamps, and even a propane lantern could not compare to electric lights. In a long term grid down I would hook up low-voltage LED lights which I could rob out of my RV along with the solar set up.

Poor Granddaughter, Mo. And she is darn cute.
Hey Peanut, no word on the cognitive test, and I'm not sure she had it done today. She got her hair done this morning. Nurse called me and saw her at the hairdresser, said her mood was good, and told her I insisted she look at a recliner that had used there. So she did, but the mechanics weren't good, so the nurse said she'd keep an eye out for one. Maintenance came by and fixed the tv. She messes with it and the remote and it doesn't work then. Nurse found bags of bags of dirty laundry in her room, so I told the nurse to put her on the housekeeping and laundry service. Mom doesn't like to do laundry, bathe, or eat right. Nurse warned me that mom will be calling me about it all...ordering housekeeping, laundry, meals; because they told her that I insisted. She has the money, the extra charges aren't bad, and these decisions fall under her "medical decisions", and I'm in charge of that. I'm sure she's happy today, though, she's able to watch the Hallmark Channel Christmas movies and she really loves those. Also asked the nurse to find the box I just sent her last week for her birthday. She put it somewhere in her apt and can't find it. The edema specialist is coming in again to make sure she puts on her special stockings. Her legs had swelled up again. Talked to her last night, not today, so I'm sure I'll get a yelling at by tomorrow. Don't care.

Today we slept in again  but with this hot weather we both have fitful sleeps and then sleep for hours on end.

We did manage today to get all the clean washing folded and put away and washed the dishes and dried them and put them away too. This afternoon we studied two scripture lessons together and I have just finished another one on my own for Relief Society. We rang up the President of the RSL club as we noticed he didn't open it today and he is in bed with swollen legs. No doubt the stress of yesterdays house fire and moving his gear out as the home is smoke affected.

We rang him to find out what time he wants us down there to prepare the snacks for bingo so we will be down there just after lunch to do that and go to bingo.

Dinner tonight was the other half of our homemade pizza and fruit and the rest of our cream for dessert.

Good looking knees there @phideaux and not a lot of swelling either which is always good :) .

I tried messaging IK to check on him and it said "couldn't be found." I will post it here just in case as it will recognize the name here????? Hope he didn't leave the forum.
@The Innkeeper
Hi there IK.
I asked about you the other day and Sentry said you had been on the forum that morning. Haven't heard from you since the accident. I hope you are well and just taking a rest in order to recover. Just wanted to let you know you are missed.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving,

* That's one of the buggers about online, can't just stop by and check on a person.
