Your killin me Mo. I just ate supper a little while ago and you've done went and made me hungry again. Breakfast is normally my favorite meal.
What can I say.
I like to cook.
And I took all those cooking classes too.
I'll post my menu's Sunday.
But when weather is crappy, I want comfort food.
Got leftovers to eat up first.

Today was major floor cleaning time. It rained off and on for a week so the pups kept tracking in crud. In the kitchen I even cleaned under the stove and the fridge. I did the hall, bathroom and all the baseboards. I vacuumed some of the area rugs, get the rest tomorrow or Saturday.

Tonight I put 3 new ink tanks in the printer. Enough for today, tv time.

Some how I hurt my side. I think I did it Tuesday taking the my big sheppard to the vet, he weighs 109lbs. I loaded him and the cage several times in the bed of the truck. Must be age because I don't ever remember hurting this particular muscle. Sort of like a hip pointer.

Edit... I just looked up hip pointer, its exactly like a hip pointer.

Jim, I like Texas Roadhouse. The bread there is delicious. They do their steaks well. Some of them will do AARP and/or military discounts.

Sonya, I love ham and beans. I love cornbread too. I'm going to have to go get more beans and some ham for my brother to make in the pressure cooker.

Terri, nice shelves! I spy Batman and Xena videos! Good choices!

Mo, I hope you get feeling better.

I slept til almost noon (despite having gone to bed early and sleeping through the night).
Made breakfast for mom.
Did some laundry.
Went over to friend's house for a shower. He'd already gotten is ex's stuff for her so I didn't need to do that. The water over there was very hot. I've been taking cold showers at home for so long I'm not used to the hot water. But the water has been too cold for showering the past few days so I was doing sink-baths. I nearly fell a few times in his shower. He needs some sort of non-slip mat in there.
His ex started to forget her place so he had to remind her-- he read her the riot act about how she needs to treat him like the guy who saved her from being homeless, because he did.
She just got hired back at the casino but I don't know how she's going to get to and from work. She doesn't have a vehicle (she blew that one-- would have had one if she hadn't quit her job and cheated on my friend). It's her fault my friend had a stroke & is blind in one eye. He can't drive at night because of it and her hours require night driving. She'll have to find someone else to drive her. I suspect she'll pester him to do it though.
He needs to start charging her rent and make her pay for gas if he drives her anywhere. And he needs to stick to his 1 month rule on her moving out. She's still under the illusion that he will take her back. I told her in no uncertain terms that it's not going to happen after what she did to him. I'm still being nice to her because she's not as bad as his other ex, but it's frustrating.
Tomorrow I have a doctor's appointment.

I'm going to work on fixing the old shop of mine a tree fell on yesterday. I think I can salvage it but one of the main stringers got nocked off a post and I think it will all collapse if I don't fix it before it snows next.

Does not look better in daylight:

The state of our country is distracting and disappointing to me. My diet is not going well. Not gaining but not losing either. It's like being on a roller coaster that won't stop and let you off.

Going to visit with a friend this weekend.

Getting ready to do a shorter exercise video so I have done something today.

Hope you all have a calm and good weekend!

Today, I did 2 loads of laundry, then I went grocery shopping, the bill was lower (about 50%) and half of it was dairy (I got a case of shelf milk and the wife's Ice-Cream). I picked up some canning rings and lids, $4 at W-mart. After I put everything away, I went to the Dentist at 08:00, talk about watching money go down the drain....

It is expected to be warm today (50F) so I will cook some dirt and work in the outdoor garden, I need to harvest some lettuce and spinach out there. Then I will gather stuff up for a trip to the recycling center next week. I need to make a support for some lights over my chest freezer and if I get all that done I may go for a walk with my bow before the rain sets in.

The wife has been having trouble with doing stuff, she gets tired really fast and then she becomes too dizzy to get back to her room unassisted. I have cranked her oxygen up, but it is not helping as much as it used to. I hope she is feeling better today, if she isn't it may make me call off my walk this afternoon. Having poor health really impacts everyone in the household.

I am thankful for the health that I have, it is a blessing that we often take for granted.

Lots of things to feel bad about for sure sorry about the wife, hope she gets better soon.

Hard breathing days are no fun, I hope she gets to feeling better, Urban.
Husband just had his head out of the window in the little room that'll be connected to the big bedroom to make decisions on bathroom stuff placement. That window will soon be a door. Trying to get him in there to look was an ordeal, I have my bed in there for now, and a walker won't fit. The shower is a monster, bigger than what we thought. I think it'll work out fine, but things look weird framed. Sheet rock arriving soon. We're going to the really big city to shop at Sams, and possibly Menards...have a rebate coupon from there, and of course, it's not redeemable for cash. Kids will be playing pep band tonight for the basketball game at the High School, so it'll be a late night for us, driving each way. But hey, three day weekend for them.

Strawberry is grumpy.
Too bad, dog walker didn't come today.
We're under wind,winter weather advisory.

Stay home.
Dishes are done.
Ham and beans were great.
Got the potatoes, carrots, celery, sweet potatoes simmering in the crock pot.
Will be making ham, potato, corn chowder for the next few days.
Leftovers for lunch.
The snow and sleet is blowing from the west, horizontally.
That's hardly ever good.
You'll stay warm and dry if possible.
Not going anywhere for a while.

went through the drive thru at the Doctors office and got tested for Covid, been sick for a while, with headache, stuffiness, and such, so I thought what the heck, will find out Monday, aint nothing they can do anyway.. just staying home, making Potato soup.. mmmm good.

My brother is still recovering from the vaccine.

Got near the end of the clear the back of the house project.

I have to tame the garde

Hose and extension cord hydra before I can sweep and vacuum. That will let me move one storage cabinet and get on with removing more flooring. This place hasn't had this much intact flooring since we bought it. I reminded The Princess a few days ago "the carpeting was the only thing stopping you from falling through the floor"

My brother is still recovering from effects of the vaccine so excused himself until Monday. Since The Princess doesn't have to work today and since it is a snow day I opted for seeing if I could finish the bathtub repair.

I have a tool budget that I don't use to let it build up. I make due with what I have until I face a unique challenge and have enough in the tool budget to purchase a new tool that makes the job easier. The most recent addition was an oscillating tool.

I purchased it to help with ductwork project and it did the trick of cutting floor boards in a tight spot. But the tub repair let me test the sanding option. Again it did good letting me get into a tight space.

I had used JBweld Waterweld epoxy to repair a crack in the soap shelf and another in the bottom corner of the tub basin.

The left edge of the soap shelf turned out to my liking.

The crack in the bottom corner is a bit thicker than ideal but I declared it "good enough" since I do not want to risk the epoxy failing.

So I now have 2 fully fuctional full baths. I like back-up options. I have 2 more planned but those will have to wait their turn.

Tonight is steaks and movie night for us and then the granddaughters visit for the day tomorrow.

Behave!

raised bed frame.jpg

Dawn and I knocked together the frame for a 4' X 12' X 2' raised bed today. Had to do it in the garage, since it didn't even get up to freezing. You can see the 12' corrugated aluminum on the left. We have three pieces, one each for the sides; we'll have to cut two 44" pieces for the end.

It took us about four hours to put together, but it's our first attempt. Next week we'll get the materials for three more. Anyway, tomorrow we're going to cut the aluminum and screw it into the inside of the frame. That should take another 2-3 hours.

We're going to use the "hügelkultur" approach, and we've been scrounging up branches, sticks, twigs, etc., enough to fill the thing up halfway. Then one neighbor is going to bring his truck around with about a cubic yard of fill dirt, and I'm off with another guy to take his tractor with a front loader and get some two-year-old horse manure. Hopefully we'll have them (and maybe another four) sitting in the garden, full of growing media, by the end of February.

Then it's on to the greenhouse!
