Just finished watching 'THE OUTLAW JOSEY WALES' on the 65" curved screen... great movie, seen it many times but not lately, so I watched it again, lol. Chief Dan George was funny in this film, in real life he was actually a tribal chief in a band of Coast Salish in British Columbia, and his true name was Geswanouth Slahoot... how would ya like to write THAT every time ya signed your name? Good man, and a great actor, not just in films but also on stage. RIP, Chief Dan George... :confused:
 
Yes, and Clint directed it too... I suppose when ya reached superstar status in those days, ya didn't have to put up with some chump trying to tell ya what to do, ya simply directed the films yourself, lol. Ol' Clint has directed a few good films in his time, he will surely leave a legacy behind, just like 'The Duke'---those two are my favorite actors of all time. There are other good 'old school' actors, but it's hard to beat Clint & 'The Duke!' :cool:
 
Just watched 'THE LOST BOYS' on Roku, courtesy of my streaming stick, and that movie gets better with age, lol. I can still remember seeing that flick when it first debuted, and I liked it then as well. Friggin' vampires in the Socialist Republik of Kalifornia, who would've THUNK IT? Of course, despite the deaths of all vampires in the film, the bloodsuckers STILL exist today in the form of SCUMBAG POLITICIANS, BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Those dirty swine... holy water is too GOOD for the scumbags, I recommend a stake, lol. Great flick though, and here's something else to consider... 🤔

My best friend "T-Bone" whose family ran the surf shop in Coronado for decades, his uncle lives in Santa Cruz where some of that movie was filmed, and that old wooden coaster seen in the flick is the only surviving "sister coaster" to 'The Giant Dipper' in Belmont Park in San Diego. I think other "sister coasters" existed at some point in history, but as I was given to understand, these two are the only wooden coasters of the same design left from that line. I've ridden 'The Giant Dipper' in Belmont Park, and that ride is pretty cool, being right on the beach and all... makes up for its old school nature, lol. 😎

Yo, Bacpacker, I watched 'PALE RIDER' last night, and that film has such cool mountain scenery in it! As a former rock climber, I always take note of domes, crags & spires in the background, lol. One scene showed this burly rock buttress that soared upward for 1500' or more, it was impressive! It's kinda funny, watching old Westerns made in places like the Alabama Hills outside Lone Pine, and seeing outcrops or huge boulders that I've climbed... 'JOE KIDD' is an excellent example, I remember watching that flick with rock-climbing friends and saying: "HEY, I'VE DONE THAT ROUTE!!!" 🤣

I also watched some surf flick called 'NERVOUS LAUGHTER'---it showcased the Hawaiian surf spot known as 'Jaws' but it also had some footage from 'Mavericks' in California, as well as a few other locations. Not a bad film, but it reminded me of the arrogance of some surfers back in Coronado, they were complete wankers & bullies in high school, and the reason why I never took up surfing, though I became an excellent body surfer and I would ride large waves. I also became a better skateboarder & expert small craft sailor who could outsail any and all of those scumbags, lol. 😒

When I was in high school, I put up with some bullying action because I was younger and smaller than many of my classmates... I started school early and skipped a grade to boot, you understand, plus I was all gripped about my dad who had recently abandoned us. Later, after I was in the Infantry, I stomped the living cr@p outta some scumbags who had given me grief in the past, and it felt pretty good too, I'll tell ya that much. Revenge, the greatest motivator known to man, lol. Meh, those days are long gone, and I couldn't care less now, but some surfers are complete d!ckheads, lol. :confused:
 
I never climbed to amount to anything, well not on a ropes route. Plenty of climbing backpacking though. Different, but kinda the same. Always great views.

When I was in school somebody was always after me. Always biggest guy in school and the youngest in my grade, and I guess everyone figured if they could beat my a$$ nobody would mess with them. Wasn't a lot of fun. That mostly stopped when I knocked this one dude out cold. Popped him on the chin and he went down like a bag of rocks. Scarred the crap outta me, thought I killed him!!! :cool: Seems like I was in the principals office every week with somebody getting tore up. It got old.
 
Oh hey Wingnut, I've been on that roller coaster many times growing up. We lived near there. Been thru the Loma Prieta earthquake there, the mudslides, the only road out (Hwy 17) being closed. Husband and I bought our first place there, a townhouse, back in 1983. It's always fun to watch that movie. I think that they filmed ol grandpa's place in Felton, near Santa Cruz. And calling it Santa Carla is a hoot. I miss the Santa Cruz of my youth, the boardwalk days. It's nothing like that anymore.
 
I saw battlefield earth. IF they had stuck to the book and made it a series, they would still be raking in the cash and making spin offs.
L-Ron was a great Sci-fi author, not so much as a prophet though.

All bullies are cowards, once ya stand up to 'em they usually move on to easier prey. Sometimes ya gotta sock 'em up, just to get 'em to leave ya alone, that's just the way it is... a sad reflection upon modern society. :confused:
 
While I was sharing some quality time with the kittens (who are also moving slowly today, dunno what their excuse is, maybe the gloomy overcast sky and possible chance of more rain), I recalled that scene in 'PALE RIDER' where Clint's bared back has all those bullet scars in it, and when I was watching the movie last night, that scene instantly reminded me of a guy in jail with similar scars... :rolleyes:

Some black guy who "ran the module"---which means the Sheriff's deputies appointed him to select various inmates for tasks such as cleaning, handing out food, etc. We got along alright, he wasn't your typical gangbanger all inked up and whatever, and he'd often give me the food details so I'd score an extra meal, which I usually gave to the heroin addicts who were all strung out and really needed extra food. :confused:

One day we were talking about various things, and he showed me these scars he had... he was sitting in his car one night in some sketchy area of the 'hood, and some other guy walked up, pulled out a pistol and started blasting, aye? Well, the guy hit everything BUT the guy's heart, there was literally a RING of bullet scars round the heart area, five or six scars, at least. I'd never seen anything like it, even with the combat wounds some NCOs had in the Aarrrrghmy. :oops:

I asked the guy, "WHOA, DUDE, DO YOU KNOW HOW LUCKY YOU ARE TO EVEN BE HERE?!?" o_O

I didn't mean being in jail, of course, just being above ground, lol. But boy, those scars were something else... proof that a person can take a whole heap of abuse and STILL live, I reckon. Any one of those shots could've killed him, had it actually hit his heart, but they just left a ring of scars instead. The guy probably could've cadged free beers in bars nationwide just by showing those scars, kinda like those shark attack survivors with bite marks all over their bodies, lol. :(

There were other jailhouse inmates with bullet scars, but theirs were nowhere near as impressive, lol. ;)

That sounds really familiar. I had two bullies constantly on me, one day I decided, enough.

The first one got his head shoved through the glass in the shop door, didn't cut him luckily. The second one a few days later. He was a head taller than me and I decked him in the jaw and knocked him down, broke my thumb in the process.

Funny though, they never messed with me again.
 
Clint double feature last night, I've been on a Clint kick lately! Watched 'UNFORGIVEN' and 'SUDDEN IMPACT'---great lines in both. These two from the latter film had me laughing out loud:

"GO AHEAD, MAKE MY DAY!" :oops:

"NOBODY, AND I MEAN NOBODY PUTS KETCHUP ON A HOT DOG!!!" 🤣

Gonna watch another movie here pronto... last night my streaming stick kicked out 'THE DEAD POOL' starring Clint, and I haven't seen that one in years, so maybe I'll watch it. Maybe there'll be something better on, we shall see... ;)
 
Korean cop show calle "Live" , it's actually pretty good, seems very realistic somehow
Plus still watching Cobra Kai but I try to only watch 1 episode at a time so I don't binge watch all the way to the end.....I really like that show
 
Broadchurch (discovered there are actually 3 seasons), Sister Boniface Mysteries, and various "how to" videos on Youtube.
Sonya, I have a friend who got upset about horse deaths until her mother told her "no horse was actually harmed, its a stunt horse!" I don't like when animals are killed in tv or movies though.
 
Regarding The Empress and all shows where animals are shown dying, no, it is not real. In Dancing With Wolves, no bison were killed. These are part of the story. The death of that horse was something woven into the story, even into the last episode, and it was a thing related to love.

I don't like to watch violence of any sort, humans or animals. Sometimes I can get through it, sometimes not.
 
We have been keeping up with The Rings if Power and loving it. Episode 7 was released on Friday and watched it 3 times already. Been averaging 6-7 times for each episode. We have not stopped there. Found a few Youtube channels that do deep dives into each episode translating the elvish dwarf an orc languages into English and tracking movements on the map.

For a guy that has read The Lord of the Rings 23 times The Hobbit almost as many and The Silmarilian multiple times this stuff is candy.

My son has also taken an interest in the series and I have enjoyed discussing the episodes with him. Good father son bonding.

While we are looking forward to the finale for the first season we will have to wait for the next season. Good news is Amazon is on the hook to do 5 seasons.

"The Occult History of the Third Reich" this goes into the history and background of the thinking of NAZI Germany. I am currently on part 4. I an seeing a lot of similarities and parallels between those times and what we are seeing in the democrat party, WEF, and the United Nations.
 
Whatever is on my Roku Streaming Stick when I fire up my TV, which will happen here pronto... got things done today and looked after Zorlac in his post-operative state (he's sleeping soundly right now), so it's time for a little entertainment, lol. So far this month, I've seen some good films, mostly old school numbers worth watching, but I think there are some decent films I haven't watched yet, the free channels usually rotate films every month. Some of their offerings are crappy, but others are good, ya just gotta sort 'em out and choose the one ya want. I would still recommend a streaming stick to anyone who does NOT already have a better setup, aye? No whorehouse cable TV prices, & apps galore if ya wanna go that route... :cool:

We have 5 Roku boxes but only 4 Roku controllers. :rolleyes:

I just binge-watched season one of Obiwan Kenobi series. I liked it. Too much of the little kid for a season, but still enjoyable. At least the girl they had in this was a much better actor than the kid who played young Anakin in the movies.
