We spent the last couple of days on fishing and camping on the White River in Northern Arkansas. The men in my family have been making this trip for 40 years. We fished a couple of days and camped 2 nights. We camped on the confluence of the White River and Crooked Creak which happens to be old White Water property if you remember the Clinton scandal. We caught a lot of fish caught up with family and made some great memories.

Fried chicken mashed potatoes and gravy on the creek bank. We fried a few trout as well.

An over night water drop left the boats thirty feet from the river.

That looks like one cool trip! Wow!

I thought trout liked colder water than I would assume is in Arkansas. But those look like very happy trout (well, they were happy right up until the time they got caught).

We have great trout fishing in the Ozarks! The White river chain was damed up in the 50s creating huge lakes 100s of thousands of acres between each lake is a river feeding from the bottom of the lakes creating 50 degree water. 20 lb brown trout are not uncommon. Just recently a 40 plus lb brown was caught.

My hubby and I plan on retiring in the Ozarks. And retirement is coming up real soon.

My belly growled like a pack of junkyard dogs looking at all that fine food!

It's been a while since I hiked among the breathtaking bluffs along the White River (near the Calico Rock area). Nice fishing!

Never been in Arkansas but I've fished Taneycomo. I remember how cold that water is coming out of the Table Rock dam. And so clear you can see the trout twenty feet down. And you can watch them ignore your bait too!

That looks like a wonderful trip, Hash. 👍
It’s always a good time! We fish Taneycomo all winter long. I was a guide Tc in the 90s. Do you happen to remember where you stayed or where you fished?

I don't recall the resort, but it was on the south shore. You had to go upstream to get to the really good trout fishing spots and you had to go downstream to get to the good bass and bluegill spots. I was a kid when I was there, probably around 1984 or so...

Our annual men’s family float trip will be on the Buffalo river this year. Jake and I have spent the day getting our equipment ready to go. I’m so excited to take Jake this year. It will be his first year to go on this trip, I’m looking so forward to spending 2 nights on the river and 3 days fishing with him and the rest of the men in the family.

Good for you and Jake. You are creating a bond that I regretfully never had the chance with my son.
