I know fruits and veggies are good. I've tried it with yogurt, too. But has anyone ever put beans in their fruit leather? Just wondered if it would mess with the texture too much?! Am I totally weird to think of this combo? ?

Do you like the taste of beans and fruit? I personally don't like beans but if you do give it a try.

I dehydrate cooked beans often. Because then they become lightweight instant beans. But the texture is dry. Fruit leather is sticky and sweet. I would say not a match, but you never know. I've heard of grinding dried beans and baking them into brownies and that does well.

I like to do experiments and this would be a great experiment. When I first saw this thread, it occurred to me that just beans, with some seasonings, dried into leather would be a great thing to have in a BOB. I would consider keeping some in a BOB or in preps to mix with some hot water to create a quick to make food.

I know right?! I saw that people were adding veggies... great!!! I had something to do with the huge amount of summer squash and the kiddos thought... hey a sweet treat! Now, I have a bunch of beans... fruit and nuts go together and sometimes beans can have a nutty flavor. I dunno, my crazy brain... XD

Maybe you can make granola bars and sneak some beans in there.

If this were a poll, I would say yes it is weird to put beans in fruit leather.
Considering how many products may have soy in them in some form, maybe not.
If it were something bothering me, let's see, beans or no beans, then I'd say yes, beans. Give it a try. My concern would be spoilage.

Sold as a product called "Fruit Roll ups," popular among children for snacks. There are probably a few others out there as well.
