Young cat

He/she has been hanging around for a few weeks at my place. Yesterday he was eyeing something in the flower bed from the sidewalk but when he saw me he ran. He’ll walk along the side of the street, looking at me. Today I determined to chat with him but he took off from his apparent sleeping spot before I got back outside to him. I called the here kitty kitty call but didn’t see him anywhere. Maybe he’s feral, maybe a cast off.
We left water out for him, don’t know if he tried it.
With it being so hot I was really wanting to help the little putter tat out.

open it where they can see you and it, but not run.
put it down and back away.

Why in heavy oil, @Magus ?
There are other cats around too. Probably from the same litter, a black cat just about 5 minutes ago snagged a bird in the backyard. Everybody was hollering at the black cat….robins, wrens and squirrels. I know it’s a natural thing but … I’m trying to be like the Star Fleet Federation and not get involved.

My cats seem to prefer oil. water would probably smell louder though as it evaporates.

Haven’t seen either of them since the other day. Been keeping water fresh in three places for critters and birds. Heard rustling around out back last night, probably opossum.
